I use a small blessing every day in my current practice. Dear Goddess and God, I give thanks from the bottom of my heart for the abundance I have in my life. For those blessings past (reflect on those people, memories, situations etc) For those blessings current ( reflect on what do you have now you can be grateful for? Even if it’s a roof over your head ) And For those blessings yet to come ( reflect on the thought that we can have an active part in our future blessings through magic) I give you deep gratitude ( visualise gratitude and/ or appreciation emanating from your heat centre into the Universe for a few moments) Blessed be How do you express your gratitude in your magical practice?

Expressing gratitude for me, has usually been just feeling the gratitude and saying a silent 'thanks'. But of late I have introduced regular offerings and gratitude psalms periodically, usually 65 or 150..
when I find myself in any kind of line or being on hold, i remember To list things for which I’m grateful.
Oh yes, from the Cynics, fluff bunnies and gratitude vintage lecture - i remember now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xgeKfrJCZ68&t=99s
That is an interesting tip, I shall try it out! See how it works. Thanks!
Ugh! I have to be honest and simultaneously, I am embarrassed to say so...right now...I am having a hard time feeling gratitude. I feel isolated, hurt, angry....and that's the wrong type of energy to have to practice magic. How do you find gratitude in the midst of such anguish?

Thank you Susanne. This is indeed very positive! Especially number 7. That makes me happy even if we are still waiting for it to peak there will be an end x
Hi! You just... practice it, like any other skill. At first you may even be faking it, but if you keep it the channels will unclog. If that makes sense. Just start with small, everyday things, y'know the ones we take for granted, like in Ariel's
I formally practice it in the morning and night during prayer, and before spell work and spirit contact. I also spontaneously blurt out lists when I catch myself complaining or notice something like a beautiful sunset or animals at play (I work outside). The feeling of awe makes me think about other things that are wonderful. I am often just grateful for infinite chances, good health, a resilient body and spirit, spirit/universe/God/angels engaging with and listening to me and the opportunity to learn and grow.
Funny thing.... I grew up in Catholic school and Baptist church. I loved the ceremony and and solemnity of the Catholic service. At Baptist church I did not like the “praise and worship“ service. It was weird and felt fake. But I find I can get really fired up the longer I keep listing things. I have to move. It’s like realizing my blessings, support, connection, and power sends a surge through me.
Love this. Since I’ve been on the Path I’ve also found that I notice things I am grateful for more - especially in nature
Music has also been a tool I use to shift my energy, when I feel so sad I don’t think I can begin to feel grateful. Finding an upbeat positive song that brings me hope, makes me feel powerful/confident/competent, or brings memories of a good or fun time in my life, has been helpful. Once the energy shifts, I can begin to think of some things.
Oh yes, nothing like a tune to change the vibration. There are some songs I know put me in a better place.
Absolutely! What about sharing wich songs these are? I'm singing at the moment 'A Foggy Day'!
@Susanne Karl I love all kinds of music, as I love music for the emotions it evokes. So, my song choices may appear to be all over the place. Sometimes words are important, and sometimes not so much. Also, in the way we read the Psalms, I can take a Christian song and repurpose to fit my beliefs. Ex: Limitless is about God the higher power that is in control. I look at this as the universal law/higher power that sustains all with perfect order. And sometimes, I just relate it to myself and the part of the divine that is part of me. You can of course can apply meanings that work best for you. 1-Limitless by Planetshakers 2-Joy by King and Country- another Christian song, but it lifts my spirits, gets me moving and gratitude flowing (don’t discount this song because of its origin) 3-Looped by Kiasmos-instrumental-quasi mellow, but gets me moving- I listen to this in the morning 4-Spectrum by Florence and the Machine 5-Take the World by Storm by Lucas Graham 6-Never Give Up- by Sia 7-Greatest- Sia 8-Rhiannon-Fleetwood Mac 9-Battle Royal (Haters Instrumental VIP) by Apashe- (club song that makes me want to dance and makes me feel like I can slay dragons) 10-Giants by Ruelle 11-Wake Up World by Ruelle 12-New Attitude by Patti Labelle 13-Opening from Elizabeth The Golden Age by Craig Armstrong- makes me feel I can conquer the world If I just want to jam and move, some songs are: Boogie wonderland by Earth Wind and Fire Boogie Shoes by KC and the Sunshine Band Getaway by Earth Wind and Fire Bailando by Enrique Iglesias ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- I also love most songs from Silver Sun Pickups Drive by Incubus
Hi! Just want to say thank you everyone for their positive posts.
Ariel, I love the blessing you posted! I will start to use it too. And here are some of the things I do already.
When I wake up in the morning and look out the window, I do the following greeting (it's very location specific as I try to be attuned to this spirits of this place):
Good morning Mt. Konocti, good morning Clearlake,
Good morning Grandmother, Grandfather trees,
Good morning house and land that shelters me.
Good morning to the [local] ancestors, good morning to the wights.
Good morning to my deities, ancestors, thought forms and guides,
And to the spirit of Meowington wherever he abides.
Good morning to the people, plants and animals,
My children from afar,
Good morning to the sun, the moon, the stars,
The air, the mist, the rain,
The fire that warms us, the earth that nourishes us,
and the spring that feeds us.
Thank you for this good day, and thank you to the founders of this feast.
Mahalo!
I also have daily and weekly practices with offerings to the deities and guides I work with. Thanking them is always part of it. And speaking of thanks--I thank you, Ariel, for your teachings and community building!
Y'all sound so amazing! I was wallowing in my frozen state of being overwhelmed and by just reading these posts it has really lifted my spirits and reminded me of the small things that really do make the world go round. I sincerely believe if everyone could see the positive in everyday life and be grateful for everyday blessings and give back to one another and Mother Earth then it really could be a different world Thank You everyone !
Bless you, Veronica, I agree with you whole heartedly. bbx
Using gratitude has brought me out of challenging situations and has manifested miracles in my life. It has become the first thing I do when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I do before bed. It’s a habit now. Plus I always thank my Angels and Guides.
