I initially wrote this on youtube and was re-directed here to discuss. I am just going to copy and paste the original comment to get some advice.
i watched this and made notes yesterday. I am off work at the minute so trying to fit in all the exercises is not an issue yet and so i have had time to take time on it. I spent a long time staring into a candle flame and just breathing and watching the colours change and it move. Maybe i spent too long, as i kind of almost drifted off and seen figures dancing almost. Like when clouds look like animals, not sure if i should have been concentrating more. I am unsure what i should be concentrating on to prevent my mind wandering in this way and forming shapes into forms. just imagining other things i guess my mind gets bored easily if i dont keep it busy. It always did wander and i would be in a world of my own easily - so any advice on this i would appreciate it.
thank you- i will incorporate this tomorrow
Welcome, @Dionne!! I would start a timer on your phone or something for one minute. And see if you can focus on nothing but the flame for the entire minute. If you catch your mind wandering, just gently bring it back again and again until the minute is up. Next day try 2 minutes and so on, until you get to 5 or 10 minutes of full concentration. That's an excellent way to build that skill. BB
