At the beginning, I wasn't too sure about setting aside all pantheons of god/desses. But 1/2 way through AYC, I realized it was an incredible relief - I suddenly realized how often I'd gotten hung up on being sure I was choosing the 'right' goddess for my purpose. And wait, was it OK to mix Celtic & Egyptian pantheons....and, hmmm maybe this wasn't quite the deity for this moment....Etc.
I recall several articles on Patheos with strongly differing opinions on the nature of individual deities, and other pagan friends who are adamant about devoting themselves to a particular deity. And none of that has ever felt quite right to me. I've loosely subscribed to the 'many facets of the same diamond' concept, but was still focused on choosing the right facet. Ha. That all melted away when I simply called upon Divine Order. And frankly, it was a relief. Now that I've completed this lesson, I am working on integrating god/desses into the divine principles they represent. The clarity and practical changes this has brought to my daily practice is remarkable.
