- The Magician Card: Master of Realities or Carnival Huckster?
Are we masters of our own fate or mere illusionists tinkering in smoke and mirrors? Among the archetypes of the Tarot, there is one who blurs the line between the creator and the trickster. This is the Magician Card. The Magician Card is the first in the Major Arcana sequence (The Trump cards). Often referred to as Le Bateleur or The Juggler from older decks, this card is a lesson about being true to yourself. The Magician mirrors how fake we really are and asks whether we're living our lives or merely faking it. The Adept and the Altar: The Modern Magician Card The image of The Magician in the Rider-Waite-Smith tradition, as well as countless derivatives, depicts a man of great spiritual power. Standing before an altar, he is draped in the symbols of the elements. One hand gestures up to the heavens while the other points down to earth, serving as a lightning rod for divine energies. He is a conduit for the energies of spirit, moving them into physical reality. He is skilled in the practice of manifestation. On this card, the Magician card represents: Manifestation – Turning thoughts into physical reality Willpower – Directed focus to mold the life you want Skill – Knowing how to use the tools available to you It’s a great image. Empowering and mysterious. It tells us we have all the magic inside us to create the life we want. But if we look further back in time, to before the occult movements of the 19th and 20th centuries refined him, we see a much dirtier dog. The Carnival Huckster: Wisdom from Ancient Decks In older decks, such as the Tarot de Marseille, the imagery is not that of a High Priest of magic… He’s a Juggler. He’s a street performer. He stands not before a holy altar, but behind a trestle table erected in the middle of a town square. He is a trickster. He is a carnival huckster, captivating passersby with the shell game. His eyes are keen and searching… looking for his mark. His hands are a blur of motion… sleight of hand meant to trick you into never catching the ball, so you permanently lose your coin. I love this older imagery because it provides us with such a radically different, yet completely necessary lens through which to view this card. It challenges us to remember that being slick isn’t always being wise. Creativity can be employed for destruction just as easily as creation. If this card comes up for you, it is asking you to face your shadow intelligence. The Shadow of the Trickster When you pull the Magician card with the vibration of the Juggler, take a spiritual inventory. Are you playing games with your gifts? Are you employing your divine genius toward purposes not in your highest good? Are you scared to just be yourself? Are you using your creativity to mask who you really are? Do you feel like you have to play a part because you don’t think you’re “good enough” to just show up as yourself? It doesn’t always mean you are intentionally being dishonest. In fact, most of the time, it’s a protection mechanism. We psyche ourselves into juggler mode, throwing balls in the air, entertaining the audience, because we are scared that if they really looked at us, we would be kicked out. We control how people perceive us so we can get what we need. We are afraid to let down our guard and be who we truly are. The Juggler asks you to stop playing these mind games with yourself. Put down the swords and boxes. Be real. It’s your authenticity that will truly shine. You have so much more to give the world when you are stripped down. The Alchemist of Self: Fake It Till You Make It Rarely are things in Tarot black and white. It’s all about context. Context is the magic wand that changes everything. Many times, depending on the cards around it in a reading, the Magician card can show you another aspect of power—the power of becoming. Sometimes we have to play the hero before we feel heroic enough to do so. In some readings, this card is encouraging the stance of “fake it till you make it.” Not to fool others but to lift yourself up. It’s the person who hums loudly to themselves while they’re alone to scare off the spirits of doubt. It’s dressing for the job you want, even though you currently don’t have it. It’s forcing yourself to take big strides even if your legs are trembling. Think of this as a positive version of the Juggler. By putting on the face and mask of what you want to attract more of, be it confidence, abundance, or bravery, you open yourself to those energies pouring into you. You’re not pretending to be someone you’re not; you’re rehearsing who you want to be. Interpreting The Magician Card in Your Life When the Magician card appears in your reading, stop and consider how real is your reality. Check your motives. Are you manifesting your desire or conjuring your outcome? There’s a difference. Check your script. Are you being you, or playing a role someone else wrote for you out of fear? Channel your inner magician. If you don’t feel ready for something, pretend you are. The Magician allows us to play the role until we make it so. He may appear before you wearing the robes of a holy guru or the rags of a street hustler. The Magician card reminds us that we are the architects of our own reality. We take up the pen. We take up the Wand. We write. We manifest. Life IS Magick. Become a Tarot Master Learning the Marseilles Tarot is an intense lesson in self-awareness. - Understanding the Principle of Polarity: How Opposites Shape The Illusion of Reality
Today's Hermetic Principle is the Principle of Polarity. I want to emphasize that the seven Hermetic Principles are presented in the book "The Kybalion," which serves as a synthesis and summary of many teachings from the Greater Hermetica. This larger body of writings is much more extensive and intricate than "The Kybalion." While I truly appreciate "The Kybalion" and consider it a very helpful book that I would recommend to anyone, I don't want anyone to mistakenly believe that it can replace the study of the Greater Hermetica. The Hermetica is an incredibly significant collection of works that provides profound insights. Although it can be quite challenging, opaque, and sometimes difficult to navigate, it is well worth the effort. Therefore, I encourage you to read both "The Kybalion" and the Greater Hermetica. The Principle of Polarity in the Physical World In this world, within our three-dimensional reality, everything exists as part of a pair of opposites. There is nothing in the physical universe, as we understand it, that is truly a unity; everything exhibits some form of duality. We have light and dark, night and day, male and female, up and down, in and out, hot and cold, sharp and dull, and so on. This is what we refer to as the illusion of this world. Some of these polarities are discussed in a different context when we talk about the principle of gender . However, many of the dualities that make up the illusion we experience in three-dimensional reality are not what they seem. By studying the polarities within the manifestations of this world, we can gain greater insight. This world is a realm of phenomena, and all phenomena manifest through polarity. For example, even your hand has two sides, and you have two hands, two eyes, and two nostrils. Many of these dualities are rarely questioned. Take the concepts of love and fear—these are opposite emotions, and we generally accept that they fall into distinct categories. Similarly, we do not question the polarity between poverty and prosperity; we simply assume these are true opposites. We accept the existence of light and dark without questioning it. We see night and day as separate entities, but if we examined any polarity closely, we would find that one end represents an "is," while the other represents a "not." So, the polarity of light and dark does not truly consist of two separate principles. Instead, it reflects the illusion of duality, in which light exists alongside a shadow or the absence of light—essentially, "not light." There is heat or the absence of heat, love or the absence of love, joy or the absence of joy, prosperity or the absence of prosperity, God or the absence of God, creation or the absence of creation. In this world, however, it may appear as though we have two opposing or complementary forces, such as yin and yang or night and day. We need both light and dark in this world; we could not exist without them. The Illusion of Polarity Why? Because this world is an illusion , we need polarity to keep it going. Otherwise, our reality would cease to exist. Imagine if the Earth had no rotation, so there were no days or nights. We wouldn’t be able to sustain life in this illusion. These illusions must appear real; otherwise, we cannot have experiences here. Often, it feels like life is happening to us, doesn’t it? We find ourselves caught in a constant struggle between two opposing forces, leading to emotional bruises as we oscillate between one polarity and another (see also the principle of Rhythm which further explains this phenomenon). We fail to understand that this polarity isn’t as real as we believe. In fact, polarity is often an illusion created so we can have three-dimensional experiences that aren’t ultimately real or as they seem. When we realize that polarity is an illusion, we can use it to navigate our way out of that illusion. Once we acknowledge that we are in an illusion and recognize polarity as its manifestation, we can use the principle of polarity to find our way to freedom. Polarization and Transformation In ancient Hermetic texts, the concepts of polarization and transformation refer to the reconciliation of opposites. For example, if you feel a sense of poverty, it’s important to understand that any polarity can be seen as a scale—there's having a lot versus having very little, or substantial abundance versus a significant lack. If you find yourself heavily on the side of poverty, it's essential to recognize that you're leaning towards the "not" side of the pendulum swing. What you want is to shift over to the "is" side of that swing. By realizing that poverty is the absence of something, you can understand that there’s nothing to fight against; it’s just a shadow. To achieve the reconciliation of a polarity, you must focus your attention on the "is" part of the polarity instead of the "not" part. This means concentrating on what you want rather than lamenting what you do not have. Remember the principle of mentalism : what we focus on tends to expand. To manifest positive changes, you need to anchor your mind and your practices—such as your magical rituals —on the desired aspect of the polarity. Instead of feeling victimized by your circumstances, shift your focus back to the "is" part of the spectrum. By doing so, you can harness the power of your mind to reshape your reality by anchoring your attention. Love, Fear, and Pain Love and fear seem to be two opposing forces. When you find yourself overwhelmed by fear, it's important to recognize the different ways fear can manifest. You should ask yourself: where do I stand on the spectrum between love and fear? Fear is a shadow, not a principle unto itself. Fear is the shadowing of love. When you are being fearful, you are stepping AWAY FROM love. So when you want to change your thought process, recognize where you are on that scale and realize how much love you are lacking. To navigate this, you must consciously direct your focus towards love. By anchoring your thoughts on love, you can begin to transmute your emotional state or any negative situation you might be facing. This process of transmutation relies on your ability to fixate on where you want to be on this spectrum. For example, if you are experiencing pain, it may be very real in your experience, but in truth, pain represents a shadow—perhaps the shadowing of health or pleasure. Understanding the source of your pain can help you identify what is shadowing. From there, you need to concentrate your thoughts on where you wish to be, rather than where you currently believe you are. This focus will magnetize your experiences toward that desired state. Spiritual Progress Beyond Polarity Ultimately, spiritual progress leads us to the understanding that all polarities are illusions, and that we no longer desire to exist within them. Once we recognize that a polarity doesn't truly exist, we are freed from it entirely by that realization. To reach this understanding, we must navigate within the polarity to find our way out. When we understand that polarity only exists to cast a shadow over a principle, we can ascend towards that principle’s true essence, realizing that the shadow is not necessary because the principle is eternal. Fear does not need to exist for love to be present; this connection only arises in the realm of polarities. If we desire to experience fear we must engage with the principle of polarity. However, if we do not desire fear, then the polarity itself is unnecessary, since love has no opposite. Similarly, concepts like prosperity, health, joy, happiness, and good do not have opposites. I once read an explanation of the principle of polarity that suggested we should avoid being too happy because something bad might follow. This, however, is not aligned with Hermes' teachings. In his writings, Hermes conveyed that joy and happiness are natural states, and it is only when we cast a shadow over these feelings that polarity emerges, leading to experiences of fear, pain, sadness, and upset. This world is defined by opposites and polarities. In this realm, pain, upset, and other shadows are inevitable; they exist to create a world of duality. However, it is all happening within the scope of an illusion, a kind of hallucination. By understanding the principle of polarity, we can find our way out. We must recognize when we are facing a problem as a manifestation of polarity and understand that we are experiencing the shadow side of that polarity, not the side that represents the principle. Every principle has the potential to be shadowed in this world, but that shadow does not define the principle. Shadows are polarities created in this world to allow duality to exist. Once you recognize this, it becomes easier to apply your newly enlightened perspective to anything in this world. You can identify a polarity at play and understand that while it appears to exist, it doesn’t hold true significance. Only the principle exists, it's shadow does not. Working with the Principle Polarity What is the purpose of polarity? What does it seek to conceal, and what does it aim to shape? It's important to understand that all forms are not negative or evil simply because they shadow a principle. In this life here on Earth, we have to accept polarity as necessary. Yes, there are opposites, and yes, there is form and shadow. Once you know that, however, you are no longer a slave to it. You control it. Information is power. If I catch myself struggling with some not-so-fun side effect of polarity. I remind myself that I am experiencing polarity as illusion rather than as transformation. I focus my mind on the principle that governs the polarity rather than its shadow. Suddenly, I'm centered. Even within form and shadow, I can play. I can be happy here. I can prosper, grow, and enjoy the experience. That doesn’t mean I won’t find myself falling into negative poles again; I certainly will. But now I have the tools and knowledge to transform my experience each time this happens. You can discover various effective ways to engage with the principle of polarity. Whenever a problem arises, instead of feeling overwhelmed, you can ask yourself, "What’s the polarity here? What is the principle, and what is the shadow?" For this exercise in exploring polarity, all you need to do is firmly set you mind on the principle that’s being shadowed, focusing on it rather than its shadow. Remember, polarization occurs because form follows thought, and my mind expands in accordance with what I choose to focus on. Therefore, we are wise to keep our thoughts firmly anchored on what we truly want. Admittedly, it can be challenging to maintain our focus on the principle instead of getting caught up in the shadow. The Role of Magical Practices Spellcasting and related techniques can be quite useful because they help us stay focused on specific goals. We can use the law of correspondence to incorporate symbols into our practices, thereby enhancing our efforts and maintaining our focus by drawing on those with significant akashic energy—symbols that people throughout history have used to navigate their paths. For example, if I were dealing with a challenging aspect of a relationship, such as conflicts or disharmony, I would identify the principle I want to focus on, in this case, perhaps cooperation. The underlying shadow of cooperation would be competition, and my aim would be to concentrate on cooperation instead. I may decide to align myself with the planet Venus and use symbols commonly associated with that principle. I may decide to use roses, teal and pink colors, and lovely seashells. I might build an altar and create a spell which focuses my mind to think about working WITH others instead of AGAINST them. By doing this ritual, I am building out a thought form to help keep me focused on the principle I wish to increase in my life. By using magic, we can supercharge the work we are doing to change ourselves. Focusing on Hermetic principles can sometimes be difficult, as it requires a lot of concentration. This is where some of our magical methods can help. Some people are naturals at it. They can focus their will without using tools. The rest of us? It often feels challenging. So we can use our tools of magic which are physical items we prepare to help us focus our mind on what we desire to bring into our life. Final Thoughts The principle of polarity is always active in our physical world and is a fundamental aspect of how it operates. However, once you recognize that this world is ultimately an illusion, you can use the principle of polarity to break free from it and reconnect with the underlying principles that this law obscures, and thus create the experiences in this world you do want. This process is effective and consistent, functioning like clockwork. Discipline, training, and harnessing our minds so we can repeat this process over and over again is how we succeed. Start where you are. Begin with what you can control and expand outwards from victory to victory. Turn the principle of polarity into your advantage. - Understanding the Hermetic Principle of Gender: Balancing Masculine and Feminine Energies
Today, we’re exploring the Hermetic principle of gender, which is one of the seven Hermetic principles outlined in The Kybalion . While this book has become a key reference for understanding the Hermetic teachings , it’s essential to recognize that the Hermetic tradition is far broader, encompassing a wealth of ancient writings. The Kybalion is a great introduction, but it shouldn’t replace the deeper study of Hermetic texts, which, while more complex, offer immense rewards. Using the Hermetic Principle of Gender to Find Balance The Hermetic principle of gender teaches that everything contains both masculine and feminine energies, present on all levels of existence. This concept is often misunderstood, especially when confused with physical sex or societal definitions of male and female. The Hermetic idea of gender isn’t about physical bodies, nor does it negate non-binary identities. Instead, it acknowledges that all beings and things embody both masculine and feminine energies. These dual forces are fundamental to the universe, and regardless of a person’s physical makeup or gender, these powers are part of their makeup. The word "gender" shares its roots with "generate," pointing to its connection with creation. All acts of creation depend on the interaction between masculine and feminine energies. This dynamic is evident in the formation of atoms, the interplay of positive and negative charges, and the vibrations that produce light, heat, electricity, and magnetism. Even chemical reactions rely on this balance. In Hermetic philosophy, every individual, regardless of their body, carries both masculine and feminine qualities. Understanding this principle helps illustrate how creation works on every level, from the cosmos to our personal lives. Masculine and feminine energies work together to shape existence, underpinning natural processes and magical practices alike. By recognizing this balance, we gain clearer insights into how the universe functions and how to apply this knowledge in meaningful ways. By extension, this principle applies to us as individuals. Masculine and feminine energies are not separate; they are intertwined, forming the creative force behind everything in existence. This duality becomes especially significant when we consider the mind. The mind is inherently creative, and its creativity arises from the interaction of these two complementary energies. The conscious, or objective, part of the mind represents the masculine energy—decisive and action-oriented. Meanwhile, the subconscious, or subjective, part embodies the feminine energy—receptive and nurturing. Together, these energies enable us to think, create, and influence the world around us. The key is to channel this creative power intentionally, rather than letting it operate unconsciously. This is the foundation of magical practice—harnessing these energies with purpose and clarity. The Interplay of Masculine and Feminine Energies in the Hermetic Principle of Gender On a universal level, there is only one mind. Within this universal intelligence, countless unique identities emerge—what we recognize as our souls. Alongside our souls, we also develop personalities and egos. Both soul and ego carry masculine and feminine aspects, reflecting the Hermetic principle of gender. By understanding the dynamic between these energies within ourselves—our conscious and subconscious, our masculine and feminine—we gain a deeper understanding of how we shape our reality and align with the creative forces of existence. Creativity and manifestation are born from the collaboration between these two aspects of the mind. When a thought or intention is introduced to the subconscious, it is like planting a seed in fertile ground. The conscious, masculine side of the mind determines and plants the seed, while the subconscious, feminine side nurtures it, allowing it to grow into reality. The feminine side of the mind does not question what is planted. Similar to how the earth accepts any seed under the right conditions—good, bad, or neutral—the subconscious mind nurtures whatever is introduced to it. This highlights the importance of controlling the conscious mind, which is constantly planting seeds through thoughts, desires, fears, and memories. Without awareness or direction, the conscious mind can scatter seeds randomly, leading to unintended outcomes. This process emphasizes the importance of consciously choosing thoughts and intentions. Whether through deliberate rituals or symbolic gestures, the goal is to focus the subconscious mind with clarity and purpose. When thoughts are directed and paired with meaningful symbols, the subconscious mind responds with greater alignment and impact. The interplay between the masculine and feminine aspects of the mind lies at the heart of magic and manifestation. By understanding how these energies work together, we can take greater responsibility for the outcomes we create in our lives. Whether through intentional action or natural processes, creation begins with a clear intention and the careful nurturing of ideas within the fertile ground of the subconscious. The feminine aspect of the mind embodies receptivity, nurturing, and the process of gestation and bringing ideas into reality. Many traditions symbolize this energy as the goddess or the womb. In Christianity, the concept of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit achieves balance when the Holy Spirit is recognized as a feminine principle, representing harmony within the universal order. Gender, in this context, is not a limitation but a dynamic force that illustrates how creation and transformation occur at every level of existence. The Inner Dynamics of the Hermetic Principle of Gender What’s most significant—particularly in creative or transformative pursuits—is how these principles operate within the mind. Each of us carries both masculine and feminine energies, which work together to bring about change, growth, and fulfillment. By consciously understanding and engaging with these internal dynamics, we gain the ability to shape our reality. This process allows us to step into the essence of creation, becoming active participants in the universe’s continuous evolution. At all times, an inner source of guidance is available to help us navigate and harness these forces effectively. The masculine principle, which rules conscious thought and action, is where we exercise control. This energy guides what seeds we plant—the words we speak, the thoughts we focus on, and the emotions we nurture. These are the components of the mind we can intentionally shape to influence our experiences. Regardless of physical gender—male, female, or non-binary—the masculine energy within each of us serves as a powerful tool for creating our experiences. By working with this inner dynamic, we align ourselves with the universe’s creative forces, transforming desires into reality through clarity, focus, and deliberate effort. The masculine aspect is the part of us that exerts influence and direction, while the feminine remains a profound, untamed force. The feminine energy of creation requires trust and patience, unfolding naturally without interference. Just as seeds cannot be dug up to force their growth, or a developing fetus cannot be rushed to maturity, the feminine must be honored with care and surrender. Using the Hermetic Principle of Gender to Overcome Inner Conflict Conflicting thoughts or actions can block progress, much like weeds choking a garden. For instance, you might aim for financial prosperity and take steps to attract abundance. However, if contradictory habits or negative thinking take over, they can undermine your efforts. To help your goals grow and succeed, it’s essential to consciously manage your thoughts and carefully choose the actions that support your objectives. Strengthening this conscious, decision-making part of yourself is key. Practices that build mental discipline can help you develop this control. These tools enhance your ability to make deliberate choices, sustain focus, and guide your energy effectively. Ultimately, this responsibility lies with you—no one else can manage this part of your mind. It is a personal practice that shapes your reality. In contrast, feminine energy reveals itself in dreams, moments of deep creativity, or profound intuition. It’s not something to control, but something to honor and respect, allowing its creative force to flow naturally. Balancing these two energies within ourselves creates harmony and fosters growth and creativity. To grow, it’s essential to cultivate a more balanced approach by nurturing a receptive, feminine attitude. This means stepping back from always leading or directing and focusing on truly listening. Many of us spend so much time giving instructions or taking action that we forget to pause and hear what’s being offered to us. Fundamental transformation happens when we balance leading with openness to guidance. Embracing the Hermetic Principle of Gender for Manifestation, Balance, and Growth When we take time to listen—whether in meditation or during daily life—we deepen our connection to higher wisdom. Think of it this way: when two forces of the exact nature collide, they push against each other. If we constantly demand answers from God, the universe, or even ourselves, we create unnecessary resistance. But by pausing and asking, “What would you have me do? Be? Where would you have me go?” we enter a state of openness that allows divine inspiration to flow in and guide us. Approaching life from a place of control can only take us so far. True growth—discovering who we are, experiencing joy, and creating meaningful change—requires the willingness to release control. By stepping away from constant action, even for a few moments each day, we create space for something greater to emerge. This process is about allowing ourselves to slow down, receive, and simply be. When we’re caught in overthinking—whether it’s regrets from the past, worries about the future, or endless striving—we let masculine energy dominate, and chaos often follows. To evolve, we need to practice quieting the mind and opening ourselves to receive. In those quiet moments, we create room for divine insight and transformation. Balancing action with openness leads to genuine growth. When these complementary energies work together, they nurture progress, presence, and alignment with a higher purpose. Through this balance, we create lives filled with harmony, joy, and meaningful change. The Hermetic principle of gender teaches us that both masculine and feminine energies exist within all of us, working together as essential forces of creation and transformation. By embracing this balance, we align with universal laws that guide growth and harmony. Masculine energy gives us the power to decide, take action, and direct our focus, while feminine energy teaches us to nurture, trust, receive, and flow with life’s natural rhythms. When we honor and integrate these dual forces, we unlock our full potential, creating a life that reflects both purpose and peace.
- The Fool Card: A Journey into the Unknown
The Fool is the card that is not a card. It is the sound of silence. The vibration that lives in between. It is wild and untamed. The Fool card represents the archetype of the wild child of aural rhythms. This is a traveler. A pilgrim in the world of the known. It is also unpredictable and unknown. It is holy. The Fool is a card that personifies a journey. An initiatory journey, an evolution, a transformation. In this card, we will cover the raw power of the energy archetype. We will look at the Fool as the yin and yang of the journey. We will also dive into the archetype and examine it as a mystical, eternal recurrence of the soul in life experience. The Unnumbered Wanderer The Fool card does not have a number in the Major Arcana. It is sometimes marked with a 0 to indicate its position outside the sequence 1-21. But this also has its own meaning. Zero is not the absence of a number, but the potential for all numbers. It is the boundless unity from which all things emerge. It is the cosmic egg before the universe has hatched. The Fool is the archetype of the wanderer and the seeker. It’s the personification of the lone traveler walking the path of life, with no particular destination in mind. The Fool card can also be compared to the Joker in a standard deck of playing cards. It’s the wild card, the incarnation of the divine roll of the dice. When you see this card in a reading, it often throws a spanner in the works. We are invited to see beyond the probable. To let go of our expectations and throw our plans out the window. Symbolism of the Carefree Traveler The Fool card evokes imagery about spiritual journeys. In the image, a person, typically dressed in colorful, jester-like attire, stands at the edge of a cliff. The individual is not looking down at the road in front of them, but instead is looking up to the sky. The Fool is trusting in the universe, in a higher power, and in a bigger, unseen wisdom. The traveler has no baggage other than a small knapsack that contains the seeds of experience they have yet to reap. The Cliff and the Sky The cliff represents a significant threshold, the brink of a new chapter or a monumental decision. It is the point of no return, where a leap of faith is required. The Fool has stopped here not because he is afraid but because he is amazed, and his heart is open. The sky, like his soul, is vast, and the opportunities are infinite. The Companion Dog Behind the Fool, at his heels, a small dog barks, as though trying to get his attention. He is, of course, a faithful companion, and the Fool may be seen to have several canines at his side. This one may be instinct or intuition, a subtle reminder from our subconscious to keep one foot on the ground while we reach for the stars; it may be the warning voice of society or our own internal censor, clawing and snapping to draw us back from what it sees as an ill-advised leap; in the Fool's dismissal of the creature's warnings, the essential ambiguity of the card is seen - are we moving in an enlightened faith, or in innocent ignorance? Dual Aspects of The Fool Card Interpreting the Fool card requires walking a fine line between light and dark. The cards around it powerfully shape its meaning depending on the question asked. The Innocence of the Beginner One aspect of The Fool is the innocence of the beginner’s mind. It’s the energy of starting with a clean slate before the cynicism and baggage of experience. It's curiosity, wonder, and openness to new learning. The Fool card is mighty for beginning a new project, relationship, or spiritual path. It's a clean slate, with no history to restrict the possibilities of the future. It's an affirmation of yes to the adventure of life. The Danger of the Ignorant Bliss On the other hand, the Fool can be a card of warning. The blissfully ignorant traveler about to tumble off the cliff is careless and doesn’t think of consequences. It’s the dark side of ignorant bliss, the place where turning a blind eye will cause you to really fall. When the Fool shows up as this card, he’s telling you to practice mindfulness. It’s time to take heed of the barking dog and listen to your intuition. Trust, but verify. Let your faith be your guide, but keep your feet on the ground. The Fool’s Journey In an expanded, more spiritual sense, the Fool isn’t simply a card in the deck. It is the hero of the tarot story. The Major Arcana can be considered a roadmap for “The Fool’s Journey.” Here is the story of the soul's evolution. The Fool commences on its journey as an innocent and a novice. As the Fool travels through the teachings of the cards that follow it, from the Magician to the World, the Fool picks up understanding and experience. The Fool evolves through the alchemy of spiritual change, from innocence to enlightenment. Thus, the Fool is both the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end of the Journey, in that it is eternal and constantly restarting with the consciousness of the entire experience. The Fool card teaches us that every expert once had no idea what they were doing. It also lets us know that every ending is a new beginning and that every journey commences with a single step. May you always be brave enough to throw your heart over the fence and take that step toward the beautiful, mysterious unknown. - The Power of Occult Initiation: A Journey Beyond the Veil
We go through initiations all the time in our regular lives. Birth itself is an initiation; going to college, getting married, and moving out of your parents’ house are initiations. They are rites of passage, thresholds of new beginnings. They are transitions from one state of life to the next. But in the Occult tradition, the term “initiation” has a weightier, more mystical connotation. It is still a beginning, yes. But it is the beginning of a new way of life and a new way of being. It is about leaving behind the way you think and act spiritually, to move into something sacred and new. Occult means “hidden.” So a proper occult initiation implies that you are being called to experience knowledge, practices, and ways of being that are hidden from most. This isn’t about being elitist or joining a secret society. It is about the alchemical transformation of the soul. Death of the Old Self When you begin a path of initiation, you will often feel a massive pushback from your “old mind.” Your previous life will do everything it can to stay relevant. This is why so many people find their lives come unglued right after receiving an initiation. Please understand that it was not the initiation that made your life come unglued. It was the initiation that made you see that your life was never really “together” to begin with. You stop expending energy to keep something together that no longer serves you. The earth has provided us with perfect metaphors for this. Look at the caterpillar. For the butterfly to emerge, the caterpillar must cease to be. The caterpillar must die to its old form. It cannot be both a crawling insect and a winged creature at once. Likewise, a seed must burst and be destroyed for the plant to emerge. The hull of the seed dies away, and the tomato vine pushes forth from the earth. If you grieve the death of the seed hull or the caterpillar, you have no understanding of the glory that approaches. The old desires and the old life must die away. If you try to return to your old life, you will find you are no longer satisfied with it. You can no longer fit into the seed. You have seen what is beyond the veil, and that changes everything. Navigating the Trauma of Occult Initiation Many spiritual traditions speak of being "born again." While often associated with modern Christianity, the concept belongs to the universal human experience. Being born again means changing from one form to another, just as the acorn changes into the oak tree. Physical birth is traumatic. It is a struggle for both the mother and the child. Consequently, we often expect our spiritual rebirth to be equally painful. As we initiate into the truth of who we are as souls—rather than who we think we are as egos—we often experience trauma. However, this trauma is not necessary. It exists only to the degree that you hang on to your old life. Behind The Veil Of The Divine Mother In this second birth, the mother is not a physical being but the Shekinah , the Divine Mother, or the feminine aspect of Divinity. Unlike physical birth, the Shekinah does not experience trauma or labor pain. Her function is to give birth to new realities consistently. If you are willing to trust her and allow her to carry you through this "birth canal," the process does not have to be painful. The struggle arises only when we resist. The first benefit of occult initiation is to experience the world differently. You begin to understand that the systems of the universe are already perfect. You start to notice how the world around you is an illusion. The initiate looks at a physical object and knows it is not solid. They know that what makes up that object are vibrating waves of energy. They know those waves are molecules moving at a specific frequency, producing the sensation of the object. In the end, walls are not walls, pianos are not pianos, and our bodies are not our bodies. The True Power of an Initiate Initiates are introduced to the true power upon which all is built. Most of us, before occult initiation, believe that we are isolated, private beings. We feel our minds are divided from others and the universe. We are made to feel like victims in a cruel world. We feel like puny specks of dust fighting to survive. As an initiate, you understand that separation is a lie. You are an individual expression of the Divine, yes, but you are also One with the whole. When you know that this world is not solid but energy that you can shape, you can begin to make a difference. This is not “personal power” in an egoic sense. It is tapping into the Universal power. When you work magic or pray for a need, you do so with the full knowledge that your benefit is the benefit of the whole. You become a vessel for the Divine to make the world better through you. The Secret Resistance Often, being an initiate also involves going underground. You don’t wear a badge or proclaim from the rooftops to the world, “I’m an initiate!” In fact, usually the most potent place for you to be is in the place of silence. Consider the resistance fighters during World War II. They didn’t walk up to enemy soldiers and say, “Hi, I’m in the resistance.” They dressed like everyone else. They talked like everyone else. They didn’t make waves; in fact, it was their invisibility that made them so dangerous. The occult is not a practice of evangelism. There is never any occasion to proselytize or persuade others of your Occult knowledge; indeed, attempting to force another toward your level of understanding often serves only to provoke resistance. Instead, you learn to move seamlessly through the world, living a life that appears ordinary on the surface. Yet, while the veil remains thick and impenetrable for those around you, for you it has become as thin as gossamer—fragile and shimmering with the radiant light of the Shekinah. The Irreversible Path One thing you have to know about this process, this journey of occult initiation, is this: There is no going back. You can’t go back to the way it was. It’s over. Just as a butterfly never un-becomes a butterfly and returns to its caterpillar form, just as a plant never goes back to being a seed once it’s been planted, there is no spiritual awakening without change. There is no such thing as getting ‘unawakened’. You can’t simply wake up one day and say, “Screw it. I don’t want this. I want to go back.” The shock might be unbearable at first, but it's necessary to understand that it is a blessing. It means your transformation is inevitable; all that’s left to decide is whether you struggle against it (more suffering) or you ride the wave, so to speak, with an open heart. The universe is waiting to lead you on. It is part of a bigger plan for you to become all that you were always meant to be. The only question is, now that it’s started, will you proceed or delay? Trusting the Process If your foundations are shaking and the structures of your life are rattling, do not be afraid. You may be in the throes of a powerful spiritual initiation, even if you aren’t on a formal initiatory path. You do not have to micromanage this moment any more than the tomato seed has to read an instruction manual about how to grow into a vine. There is a tidal wave of will that is riding on the wings of Spirit to do this work through you. All you need to do is trust. Trust that the Shekinah knows the Way. Trust that the trauma is only the egoic fear of death. Remind yourself that you are shedding the mortal for the immortal, the limited for the eternal. Sit in the silence . Quieten your mind. Let the knowing in. Occult initiation is a path that can be walked within or outside a tradition. All you need to do is say "yes" to the alchemical work and let your wings unfurl.
- There Is Nothing To Fear: Overcoming the Ego's Illusions
The human ego can be understood as a mere habit of thought—a persistent illusion that we are separate from our creator, our power, and each other. This sense of separation can feel overwhelming, like a powerful force, but in reality, there is nothing to fear. It's easy to become hypnotized by the idea that there is a great evil in the world and that we are powerless against it. This collective version of the ego, a "demi-urge," works to convince us all of our powerlessness. Our individual egos excel at making us believe we are separate and weak. The collective ego amplifies this message on a massive scale. It is a detrimental habit we have fallen into as a species. Just like any habit, it can be overcome, but only by replacing it with a new one. We are constantly faced with a choice: to overcome this habit of separation or to succumb to it. Many of us are awakening to this choice, seemingly moving faster than others in overcoming our personal version of this habit. The purpose of this awakening isn't to declare personal victory and move on. It is to help others. If you find yourself a few steps ahead on the path, you have an opportunity to guide those behind you. True freedom is a collective experience; nobody is free until everybody is free. The very idea of leaving some souls behind is a product of the ego, born from the concept of separation. Thoughts of "us" versus "them," or that some go to heaven while others go to hell, are all manifestations of an ego-mind. Until we heal this fundamental rift within our own consciousness, we have little of actual value to offer others. As you begin to heal that internal division, you are confronted with a profound truth: your own healing is incomplete until everyone is healed. We reclaim our power by transcending the fear-based thought system and embracing a truth-based one. By turning away from the lie of separation, we dissolve the ego. In doing so, we discover that our only real function is to serve and be helpful. The Path to True Helpfulness Everyone is helpful in their own unique way, though it may not always be evident to the outside observer. However, without first awakening yourself, you are like the blind leading the blind. Our primary goal must be our own awakening and the retrieval of the power we have given away. Until we prove to ourselves that we have power over the world and over the ego, any help we offer is merely interference. Until we awaken, our attempts at "helpfulness" are often just another expression of our own fearful thinking. We live in a time where fear is at an all-time high. The level of fear you experience is an indicator of your level of awakening. Feeling fear doesn't mean you are wrong or bad, and it shouldn't be suppressed. Instead, understand that fear is a pointer, showing you where there is still work to be done on yourself. The natural tendency is to feel an urgent need to go out and put out the world's fires. But people trying to extinguish fires before they understand how to do so often end up helping the fires spread. It is crucial to center yourself, face your fear, and experience it as a guide toward the unhealed parts of yourself that need attention. Only then can you become truly helpful. Facing our fears can feel daunting. It is much easier to distract ourselves with television or social media than to turn inward and confront what scares us. What we fear in this world is, on an existential level, based on illusion. If you could pull your consciousness back from the storyline of your life, watching the Earth shrink and the sun become a distant star, you would see the cosmos in a new light. You would know that in the big picture of linear time, after your body and personality have passed, you will be forgotten within a few generations, no matter how great your accomplishments. This is terrifying to the ego. But to the soul, this is a liberation announcement. It's a reminder that we are so much bigger than our temporary storylines. The Grand Scale of Existence At the end of the day, what is there to be afraid of? In 3D reality, the drama of this world can be scary. But pull back and look at the bigger picture. There’s nothing to fear. Your body is going to die one day. Whether in 20 years or 100, it doesn’t matter. Your personality will eventually dissolve back into the universe. After all, it’s only a tool for you to cope in this existence. But your soul, your consciousness, is immortal. That consciousness can never die and will persist eternally in some form of expression. Understanding that the storyline doesn't ultimately matter makes it easier to look at fear without so much pain. You recognize that fear exists on an individual level to keep you feeling separate, and on a collective level to keep one part of civilization suppressed for the benefit of another. This is not a new dynamic; it has been part of human civilization from the beginning. Powerful forces have always tried to hold others down, an external reflection of how we internally suppress our true selves. It makes sense that if we allow these internal thoughts to keep us down, we will also allow them to happen collectively. Viewing your life from this expanded perspective—recognizing you are more than this body, this personality, this lifetime—will depress your ego but empower your soul. This shift in perspective makes it easier to confront your fears, as you see that fear itself is mortal. Fear is the mechanism through which we are manipulated, first by our own ego and then by the demiurge at large. If we do not confront and overcome this fear, we will always be subject to manipulation, both internally and externally. It is vital to dedicate time daily, perhaps through meditation, to confront what you are afraid of. When you sit with your fear, you will notice how fragile it truly is. The more you recognize the fragility of your fear, the more you will want to confront it. The more you confront it, the more it melts away, leaving you feeling freer and better. When you feel better, it becomes easier for others to feel safe enough to confront their own fears. This happens on a psychic, telepathic level. The more fear you release, the easier it is for others to release theirs. This is how you become a true healer. Reclaiming Your Power from Fear You become a healer by existing in a state where you have let go of the fear that once controlled you. This frees up your spiritual magnetism. Your electromagnetic field, when unimpeded by fear, cannot help but heal. In fact, healing often works best when we are not consciously trying to do it. When you realize how imprisoned and manipulated you have been by fear, your first response is often anger—and rightly so. Realizing you have spent your life cowering from something that was never real should make you angry. This anger indicates that you are reclaiming your power. Not all anger is destructive. Righteous fury does not seek to destroy; it aims to connect and to dissolve the fear-based prison walls we once believed were real. This fury recognizes the unreality of the chains we thought we carried. This is how you can look at any situation and say, "I am not afraid of you. There is nothing to fear here." Think of the story of Daniel in the lions' den. The lions did not bother him. This is a symbol for each of us. The lion's den is our own ego first, and then the collective ego of the world. Too often, we resign ourselves to being bitten, but we have another choice. We can turn and face the lions. The ego's dirty little secret is that it doesn't truly exist. Neither does the collective demi-urge, nor the external problems we face. They have no center. When we withdraw our attention and our power from them, they must collapse. Throughout history, corrupt governments and dictators have always fallen. They unravel because they are hollow. We can take this a step further and become immune to the ego's victimization. We can become un-manipulatable by recognizing these forces for what they are: paper tigers, the wizard behind the curtain. Spend a little time each day confronting your fear and applying the common sense that comes from the perspective of an eternal, indestructible soul. From that viewpoint, it becomes clear that there is nothing to fear. Remembering There Is Nothing To Fear We are vulnerable to the degree that we are defensive or aggressive. When we believe we must defend against something, we validate it and give it reality. But when we turn, face it, recognize its unreality, and withdraw our energy, it withers away into the nothingness from which it came. It was never what we thought it was. It was all a lie. Overcoming the ego is as simple as recognizing its unreality. Overcoming the collective ego is as easy as disregarding it. But this will not feel easy until we are willing to face our fear and see that it has no real power over us. It is one thing to say this in comfort, and another to say it when facing a real threat. I know what that is like. However, when we practice confronting our fears daily, we become less likely to find ourselves in those dangerous situations. And when we do, we have practiced turning to our inner guide . When you are tuned into your inner guidance, you will be shown what to do to protect yourself and your home—not out of crippling fear, but by listening to wisdom. That wisdom will guide you to safety so you can continue your work. Everyone has a unique role to play in dismantling the demiurge. Some do it through political activism, others through spiritual practice. Some work in groups, and others work alone. But remember, the ego is most active when it feels vulnerable. When you see the ego, both personal and collective, becoming more agitated, know that it is on its way out. It is in its death throes. Understanding this helps you avoid being pulled into panic and fear. Habitual thought forms have their own survival instinct, a result of our misusing our creative power against ourselves. When the ego senses its end, it acts out and reveals itself. When you see this happening in the world, recognize it for what it is: the death throes of an old system. This is good news. A Wonderful Time in History In this moment, we have an opportunity to awaken in a way we never have before. While the world seems to believe that everything is getting worse and there is no hope, recognize that this negativity is simply surfacing to be released. If it's on the way up, it's on the way out. This is a fundamental truth. If this idea doesn't bring you comfort, meditate on it until it does. We are in a wonderful, not a horrible, time in history. Many things we are afraid of will either disappear or we will realize we misunderstood them and there is nothing to fear. It is up to us to confront our fears and allow them to return to the nothingness from which they came, so we are no longer manipulated during the death throes of the demiurge. It may feel dangerous and scary, but it is also exciting because good things are on the way. Take heart. Do not give your power to fear. Dedicate time each day to confronting your fears and seeing the unreality of both your personal ego and the collective one. You are as essential and powerful as every other healer on this planet. As we claim our power, we become less inclined to give it away. Start telling yourself, "I have no fear of the future. The future only holds good." Imagine that feeling. Good is coming through all of this. Everything is rebalancing and healing. If you let fear hypnotize you, you miss out on the healing available to everyone. Seeing the world from this perspective is all that is necessary. The rest will take care of itself. We are going to see people from different factions and walks of life, who have always been at odds, coming together for the common good. You might look at this and think it's a miracle. Part of that miracle is you—because you were willing to hold this vision, confront your fears, and refuse to be bullied any longer. Your healing force moves out into the world and inspires this wonderful coming together. This isn't a prediction; it's simple logic. When we let go of fear, good things happen. Think about how light works. When you flip on a switch, the darkness in a room vanishes. You don't need every light on; one is enough to dispel the dark. Your small amount of light does a great deal to make the impossible happen in this world. That is how much power you have, right now, just by confronting your fears. As we all learn to use this power, we will see things change. Sometimes, change looks like things are getting worse, like hitting a healing crisis in a disease. But after the crisis, healing begins, and the outcome is often better than you imagined. That is what we have to look forward to.
- How to Overcome Scarcity and Unleash the Abundance of Nature
A widely held religious perspective views humanity as inherently sinful, portraying us as small beings in need of a higher power's grace and forgiveness to escape eternal punishment. This belief in our fundamental flaws can stifle natural self-expression and suppress individuality. It is difficult to overcome scarcity when raised under this worldview, because the notion of challenging this belief may never arise. Yet, the ability to question and challenge such doctrines is always within us. Embracing Freedom from Our Beliefs In Scarcity On one hand, many are taught to believe in a loving and benevolent creator. On the other hand, many are told that we are inherently sinful due to the sins of our ancestors, such as Adam and Eve. Some learn that an innocent Son of God was sent to die for our sins, and that we must surrender to him—and often to a church or group associated with him—to avoid divine punishment, including eternal suffering if we refuse to accept this savior and cleanse our inherent sinfulness. It’s essential to recognize that, regardless of whether you were raised in a religious tradition, these ideas influence the collective consciousness—and therefore, you. As a side note, none of the statements attributed to Jesus of Nazareth support the belief that humans are inherently sinful. In fact, he taught that the kingdom of heaven resides within each of us. Many traditional witchcraft practices actively reject the notion of inherent sinfulness. For example, in Paul Huson's book 'Mastering Witchcraft,' one of the initial suggestions is to detach yourself from such beliefs altogether. His recommendation is to recite the Lord's Prayer backward once per day for three days. This practice, when done with the intention of freeing yourself from the constraints of these ideas, can be a powerful tool for personal growth. This approach aligns with certain gnostic concepts—it's a method you can use if it resonates with you. While rituals like these may be helpful to some, what's important is that you release the burden of believing that you are inherently sinful and that a higher power is out to punish you. It's also crucial to understand that you should not feel guilty for God making His Son die so your innate sinfulness could be forgiven. Even if you don't think you believe that, unless you have intentionally renounced that belief, you carry it with you to some extent. Embracing this freedom is vital, especially for those who engage in magical practices. Being Aware of Our Frame of Mind During Prayer and Ritual You can gently release yourself from limiting belief systems without needing to rebel against the religion of your childhood; that path is only necessary if it deeply resonates. Often, simple reason and common sense are sufficient for detachment. Consider this: would a truly loving creator fashion you only to condemn you for perceived flaws or sins? Ponder this question, then let it dissolve. As you calm your racing thoughts through meditation , you will discover an unwavering presence of peace. In this profound tranquility resides what you might call a higher power, or God—an essence of pure peace that endures beneath the chaos of your surface thoughts and ego. As you settle into this experience of peace, you begin a profound encounter with the divine. This meeting reveals God's actual perspective of you: one of boundless love and acceptance. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with you, and consequently, no basis for punishment. The notion of punishment arises from the ego, not from God. By spending a few moments in this deep connection, you will understand your true worth. You will come to realize that there is one thing you cannot do: alter your own perfection. You may try, you may even convince yourself you have, but you can never render yourself unlovable to the Infinite. Any remnants of concepts of sin and punishment, when intertwined with magic, disrupt its effectiveness. When we approach magic from a place of feeling unworthy—thinking even subtly, "I'm not good enough, but perhaps an angel, deity, or entity will grant my request anyway"—we undermine our own creative power. It’s essential to remember that thought is creative. To overcome scarcity, one must detach from the belief in it and accept the abundance that is our birthright. When we do this, we begin to see the evidence of abundance appearing in our lives, often very quickly. Thought is the very foundation of creation. Before a book can be written, a building can be designed, or a business launched, it must first exist as an idea. Nothing materializes arbitrarily; a thought precedes every creation. This principle—that thought is creative—is the cornerstone of all legitimate magical practices. The beliefs we cultivate and the thoughts we entertain do not merely exist in our minds; they actively shape our reality and influence the outcomes of our rituals. Therefore, to move beyond a belief in scarcity, one must first embrace a perspective that welcomes and anticipates abundance. So, if your dominant belief system when approaching magic is one of scarcity, you're likely to attract more of what you want to avoid. The assumption of scarcity stems from a belief in unworthiness and self-blame, often lurking in the background of our minds and becoming clear only when we pay attention. Therefore, when we engage in magic, we need to be aware of this perception before we start, so that we can change it. Nature’s Lesson: Abundance Over Limitation Many magic teachers often instill a belief in scarcity, advising us to ask only for what we truly need and nothing more. They caution that seeking beyond necessity may be seen as greedy or selfish. But does this perspective truly reflect the essence of the infinite? Upon closer reflection, you will come to realize the infinite’s intent for us is the same as its intent for all of nature—boundless, limitless abundance. Take a meadow, brimming with flowers, seeds, and vibrant life, or a desert, with its vast expanse of sand. Nature’s generosity is limitless. Oceans stretch endlessly, air is available in abundance, and the earth teems with life—puppies born in litters, schools of fish filling the seas, and flocks of birds painting the skies. Yet, despite the boundless richness of nature, we are taught to believe in scarcity. We are conditioned to temper our aspirations, held back by the notion that desiring more is selfish. Even in a universe of infinite galaxies, we hesitate to voice our deepest desires, shackled by the fear of being greedy. This calls for deeper reflection on our connection to the infinite and to nature itself. What is our relationship with the all-encompassing oneness? When we step beyond the confines of ego-driven thoughts and find inner stillness, we discover that nature’s abundance resides within us. In this space of peace, we come to see that there are no inherent limits—only the richness we are capable of embracing. Recognizing this relationship allows us to overcome scarcity and step into the infinite abundance that has always been ours. Living in a three-dimensional world indeed imposes certain boundaries. Dimensions, by their nature, require limits. This idea gave rise to the concept of the demiurge—a kind of cosmic architect. However, the demiurge is not a sentient being ruling over reality but rather a mental construct, a projection of our collective beliefs onto the canvas of space and time. Our thoughts hold immense creative power. The demiurge is a reflection of the limitations we collectively impose on ourselves in this three-dimensional existence. Yet, even within this realm of boundaries, the infinite has gifted us the ability to experience boundless abundance. By understanding this, we can reconcile the limitations of our physical world with the endless potential that lies within us, revealing a life of greater richness and possibility. Why It’s Smart to Overcome Scarcity Thinking As long as our beliefs remain unchallenged, regardless of how fervently we pray for mercy, the outcome will remain essentially unchanged because our thoughts are the creative agent. If we believe that we are not good enough or that we deserve to live in limitation—be it in love, health, finances, or resources—we will restrict ourselves in those areas. Throughout history, many religious narratives have attempted to explain why humans tend to live lives of trouble. But few teach the real reason for our plight: the culprit is within us. Our belief systems shape our reality. If we approach life with a perspective of limitation, our magic and prayers will reinforce that limitation, because our thoughts create our experiences. Instead of praying, "Please help me escape this crisis," a more powerful prayer would be, "Please change my thoughts about this perceived crisis." We need to free ourselves from the notion that we are inherently limited or worthy of punishment, or that a higher power somehow disfavors us. Until we liberate ourselves from the belief in scarcity, any ritual or prayer will reaffirm our sense of unworthiness and reinforce the cycle of limitation. We must learn to overcome scarcity in our minds, as our thoughts shape our experiences in tangible ways. Our journey through the three-dimensional world needn't be a struggle. While this realm certainly has its limitations, nature itself demonstrates how infinite wisdom expresses boundless abundance even within these confines. By observing nature, we can shed the perception of limitation and fully embrace abundance. Nature flourishes without ever worrying that it is being greedy. Breaking Free From Limiting Beliefs As thinking beings, we possess the remarkable ability to shape our perceptions and, by extension, our realities. We are not destined to be bound by collective beliefs or restrictive narratives that surround us. However, liberation from these constraints begins with the awareness of our own conditioned thinking. When your inner dialogue whispers thoughts of scarcity—suggesting you're unworthy of more or begrudging others their good—pause and challenge it. Recognize that as the thinker, you hold the power to choose a perspective rooted in abundance. Whenever you find yourself desiring something greater, examine the underlying attitude. Do your aspirations still carry a hint of scarcity? This self-awareness is the key to transformation. We truly heal by observing our thoughts and embracing abundance as our inherent right, thereby dissolving the scarcity we perceive in our lives. Too often, we inadvertently use practices like magic or prayer not to break free, but to merely exchange one limitation for another. Instead of releasing restrictive thoughts to invite true abundance, we inadvertently reinforce the very scarcity we wish to escape. Before you cast a spell or say a prayer, remember that in a universe of infinite possibilities, genuine limitations cannot exist. What you ask for is merely the beginning of the blessings available to you. Consider the simple miracle of an apple. Within it lie many seeds, most of which will never become trees. This fact, however, does not negate their potential. If we chose, we could cultivate each seed and grow an orchard of apple trees far beyond our needs. The potential for such abundance is always present. Similarly, a single tomato contains numerous tiny seeds. One seed, seemingly insignificant, holds the blueprint for countless vines capable of feeding entire families. Nature is a constant demonstration of this principle: abundance is the default state, even in a world that can appear defined by its limits. The mere realization of this fact helps you overcome scarcity. Shifting From Scarcity To Abundance We often struggle to see ourselves as abundant because we’ve been conditioned not to. From the very beginning of our lives, we're taught that we are limited beings living in a restricted world with finite resources. We are discouraged from expressing our desires or aspirations. Although some may rebel by becoming greedy, greed is simply another manifestation of the scarcity we’re trying to overcome. We are rarely encouraged to confront the idea of scarcity itself. Instead, we learn to accept all forms of scarcity, believing they are necessary. Even when we recognize that nature is abundant and see clear evidence of this everywhere around us, we still tend to rationalize ourselves as being limited and separate from the natural world. We mostly fail to realize the arrogance in that view. Nature is abundant, and since we are part of nature, we too are meant to experience abundance and have our desires fulfilled. It’s arrogant to think that while nature thrives, we are somehow barred from that abundance. True humility comes from understanding our interconnectedness with the natural world. Magic for abundance, when rooted in scarcity beliefs, merely alters the manifestation of scarcity, rather than eradicating it. To genuinely overcome scarcity, we must fundamentally reorient our perspective. Magic stemming from a belief in scarcity can, at best, render scarcity less daunting and let us believe we have rendered it more manageable. Yet, it fails to cultivate an authentic experience of abundance. Recognizing the inherent flaws in this approach is crucial. It's time to challenge the beliefs that keep you small. Thoughts like, “I only need just enough; more would be selfish,” or “My desires are vast, but fulfilling them means depriving others,” or even "Who am I to ask for anything?" are symptomatic of a belief system based on scarcity. While you should be patient with yourself, be relentless in your commitment to shed these limiting narratives. Stop seeing yourself as small, undeserving, or not good enough. When you notice scarcity thinking creep in, make a conscious choice to renounce it and embrace the abundance you deserve. Practice magic only with an attitude of abundance. For example, when casting a spell or praying about an upcoming bill, instead of saying, “This bill is paid on time,” try saying, “This bill is paid on time with money to spare!” This reinforces the presence of surplus in your life. Notice how it makes you feel that not only can you have this need met, but there is so much extra for you. Embracing Abundance: Lessons from Nature Nothing can defy the fundamental law of cause and effect. Thought is inherently causative, shaping the reality we experience. This is why believing in scarcity traps us within its illusion. However, by regularly connecting with our inner peace, we can see scarcity for what it truly is—an illusion we have the power to release. Letting go of a scarcity belief system allows true prosperity to manifest, regardless of external circumstances. To overcome scarcity, we must align with the understanding that abundance is not only possible—it is natural. Just as abundance flourishes effortlessly in nature, it will manifest in our lives when we embrace this truth. I recently came across a YouTube video of a preacher who made an all-too-familiar claim: that enjoying earthly pleasures leads to eternal suffering. At the same time, enduring hardship guarantees a reward in the afterlife. This notion, though widespread, crumbles under scrutiny and contradicts the evidence we see in nature. By rejecting this belief, we can align ourselves with the flow of truth rather than remain mired in misery. This is why spending time in nature is so essential. Places like national parks, untouched by human development, allow us to witness the world's natural opulence. Nature doesn’t concern itself with the afterlife or with arbitrary notions of worthiness. It simply offers abundance, freely and ceaselessly. Have you ever noticed how air is available to us in infinite supply? You can breathe as deeply as you wish, and the oxygen never runs out—it flows continuously, without condition. Even in the face of human-made obstacles like pollution and destruction, nature’s abundance persists. Rather than resisting it, we can embrace nature as our teacher. Nature shows us that scarcity is unnatural, a man-made construct, while abundance is our rightful inheritance and purpose. To truly overcome scarcity, we must reconnect with the natural order. Just as every element of the natural world thrives in harmony, abundance in our lives is a sign of alignment with the natural flow. Scarcity, by contrast, is a state of disconnection, misaligned with the laws of nature. By observing and learning from nature’s unyielding abundance, we can break free from the illusion of scarcity and step into the flow of prosperity that is already ours. Cultivating Abundance: A Call to Mindfulness and Responsibility Anyone claiming that current poverty guarantees future abundance overlooks a fundamental truth: thought is creative and accompanies you, no matter what reality you inhabit. Individuals who have undergone near-death experiences often describe freedom from physical constraints as the sole significant alteration; however, the mind persists with its established thought patterns. The notion that present hardship ensures a better afterlife falters under deeper metaphysical scrutiny. Thought remains the creative power. Even without a three-dimensional body, another type of body endures. We will experience various kinds of bodies throughout eternity, and our thoughts will continue to shape our realities forever. Let's focus on our present reality. The notion that we can postpone our abundance to a future existence is not merely complacent, but profoundly irresponsible – a form of spiritual procrastination. We are called to embrace our responsibilities and actively cultivate abundance in our lives right now. Where does this abundance reside? It lies within us. To unearth it, we must regularly quiet the clamor of our surface thoughts, fostering a state of inner peace at least once each day. By calming our thoughts and focusing on the qualities of the infinite, even for a short time each day, we can overcome scarcity, along with fear and doubt, regardless of the challenges we face or the goals we set. This practice fosters confidence and certainty about our situation. Through faith, imagination, will, and secrecy, we can turn our desires into reality. When applying the principles of manifestation described in A Witch's Primer, we must focus on creating abundance rather than limiting ourselves by pernicious beliefs in scarcity. Remind yourself often of how nature easily offers abundance—blooming flowers, vast oceans, and vibrant leaves. You are part of Nature’s bounty and can therefore solve your problems and reach your goals easily and with plenty to spare. We need to look past the appearance of scarcity in our lives and understand that nature knows how to provide solutions to our challenges and much more. Settling for 'just enough' falls far short of your true inheritance; you deserve abundant prosperity in every facet of your life. Should abundance seem out of reach, it is not because the infinite is withholding or testing you. On the contrary, the infinite actively seeks to uplift you. It is vital to understand that any limiting belief you hold can be consciously shed. Claim the natural abundance that is your inherent birthright. Embracing Our Birthright: Stepping into Abundance and Letting Go of Scarcity Abundance is our inherent birthright, not a privilege granted to a select few, nor a reward for specific rituals or saintly living. Instead, it is fundamental to our very essence. Like all elements of the natural world, we are intrinsically designed to embody abundance. We must embrace this inherent state, irrespective of the challenges we encounter in the world. As children of the infinite and of nature, our essential nature transcends all that our senses can perceive. Through our thoughts and words, we can access abundance, but we can also block it. When we approach magic with an attitude of “enough to get by,” we reinforce our limitations. It is essential to challenge this way of thinking within ourselves. We must stand firm against scarcity and the belief that we do not deserve good things or that we are not good enough. By confronting these beliefs, we can learn to overcome scarcity and attract more abundance into our lives. This transformation also encourages us to move away from unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. Integrating the phrase "this or something even better" into our prayers and intentions offers a simple yet profoundly transformative practice. It powerfully reorients our perspective from a belief in scarcity to an expansive embrace of abundant possibilities. This shift allows us to welcome blessings we may not have even contemplated, potentially exceeding our initial desires. It is crucial to recognize that we were not created as sinners or unworthy individuals; these are beliefs the group mind has adopted. We have the freedom and right to disavow any belief system we choose. Let our motivation be the desire to embody abundance, as that is our true nature. Thank you for your time today. I truly appreciate you. Until next time, blessed be.
- Principles of Magic: Essential Foundations for Transformative Practice
Magic. The word itself conjures images of mystery and power. At their core, the principles of magic are simply the art and science of the Magi. The practices of harnessing unseen forces to manifest desired changes, both within consciousness and in the physical world, is all driven by the practitioner’s will. Many who explore magic find themselves quickly overwhelmed by its vast and intricate concepts. It's easy to get lost in the labyrinth of different theories and practices. That's precisely why a strong foundation in the principles of magic is essential. By grasping these first, complex topics become far more accessible. You learn to see them as a collection of simpler parts, which prevents confusion and makes the learning journey much smoother. Jumping straight into advanced material often leads to frustration, especially when studying something as profound as magic. A Magical Worldview First and foremost, a magical perspective of the universe itself is a non-materialistic worldview. Most practitioners view the universe as filled with unseen forces beyond the reach of our physical senses. The physical world is thus seen as a manifestation of these invisible forces. It's not that we're eschewing the material world when we say that it's a non-materialistic viewpoint. We view the material world as an effect and the invisible world as a cause. The universe is seen as a cohesive system with patterns that can be deciphered using fundamental principles. One of those fundamental principles of magic that most magicians will adhere to on some level or another is the maxim " as above, so below ." As above, so below explains the connection between the macrocosm and the microcosm —the invisible and the visible worlds. This concept, along with many of the other Hermetic principles, can be found in the Emerald Tablet. We see the universe as interconnected by a unifying energy that flows through all existence, present in everything around us. Our connection to this force shapes the success of our magic. By perceiving and channeling this energy, we align it with our intentions to bring about desired outcomes. Magical effects, thus, arise from the deliberate and skillful use of this universal power. Contrary to popular belief, magic has nothing to do with supernatural forces. It has to do with natural forces. There is nothing above nature. There is nothing mystical. There's only that which is invisible. But invisible doesn't mean not part of nature. It's the causative side of nature. There is no place that is not natural in any part of the universe. Harnessing the principles of magic often yields results that others perceive as supernatural. Yet, these outcomes are entirely natural; they merely appear extraordinary to those unaware of the underlying process. The notion of "supernatural abilities" typically arises from misunderstanding; what seems magical is simply the art of aligning with the inherent, unseen forces of the natural world. Consistent practice is the bridge between the seen and the unseen. Understanding and Expanding Your Magical Sphere of Influence While our influence is boundless on a cosmic scale, tangible limitations shape our human experience: our bodies, personalities, and ego structures. Denying these limitations is not the effective way to rise above them. True progress blossoms from acknowledging our current state and taking deliberate, measured steps forward. The ego naturally resists change, clinging to the status quo, which often makes personal growth or transformation feel painstakingly slow. Magic, by contrast, accelerates this evolution, connecting us with energies that transcend the limitations of our conventional thought systems. For most, the expansion of magical abilities is a gradual unfolding. As we shed limiting beliefs about what's possible, we begin to observe precise, tangible results. These outcomes, accumulating over time, vividly demonstrate the growing reach of our magical influence, fueled by dedicated practice and adherence to magical principles. Therefore, it's essential to concentrate our efforts where we have faith in our success. Begin with attainable goals, and witness how each successful endeavor fortifies your faith in your magical abilities, progressively widening your sphere of influence. By consistently operating within this expanding sphere, you'll soon look back with astonishment at the remarkable achievements that once seemed beyond reach. Mastering any skill follows the same pattern. A musician's ability grows with consistent practice and sound technique. Similarly, a dedicated fitness enthusiast transforms their physique through diligent adherence to specific regimens. The same applies to us: the more we practice and honor the core principles of magic, the greater our influence and abilities become. It's a journey of unwavering commitment, offering no shortcuts—only progress forged through consistent effort and deep understanding. Understanding the Ethics of Magic: Myths, Misconceptions, and Reality When discussing magic, the topic of ethics naturally arises—and for good reason. Much of what people think about magic is shaped by centuries of misinformation and cultural storytelling. Some view it as inherently sinful, often citing misunderstood references from religious texts. Others are influenced by Hollywood, books, or graphic novels, which usually portray magic through exaggerated, fantastical lenses. These fictionalized depictions, while entertaining, lead to misconceptions, and many, even those intrigued by magic, wish these stories were true, clinging to these dramatic portrayals. In reality, ancient and modern practitioners of magic are far removed from these stereotypes. They aren’t conducting sinister rituals under the cover of darkness. Instead, the practice of a true magus is rooted in wisdom, self-awareness, and a desire to deepen their connection to the world around them. Magi focus on finding peace, harmony, and personal growth—not on manipulation or harm. While it’s true that magic, like any tool, can be misused, the majority of those who embrace it responsibly prioritize positive intentions and the well-being of others. A helpful way to understand magic is to think of it as a neutral force, comparable to water, electricity, or money. Water can nourish life, but also cause destruction. Electricity powers homes but can be dangerous if mishandled. Financial abundance provides security but can also fuel greed. None of these forces is inherently good or bad; their impact depends entirely on how they are used. Magic operates similarly. It is a tool, neither moral nor immoral on its own—its significance lies in the intentions and actions of the person using it. These ideas are central to the principles of magic. By recognizing magic as a neutral force, we begin to see through the myths and fears that have long distorted its image. This perspective allows for a deeper understanding of its role in history, culture, and personal practice without the weight of unnecessary judgment or sensationalized narratives. When stripped of these stereotypes, magic reveals its true essence: a human endeavor to explore and engage with life's mysteries, enriching our existence. Understanding Magical Consequences Magic involves working with unseen forces to create tangible outcomes. When someone uses these principles to harm another person, I call it "attack magic." I avoid terms like "black magic" and "white magic" because they are misleading. Wearing black clothes and using black candles doesn't automatically imply malicious intent, any more than wearing white clothes guarantees a person is virtuous. While some people use magic to cause harm, this is not the typical purpose of authentic practice. This brings us to what is often called the "threefold law" or the law of return. It's essential to understand how this concept works. When you create a thought and project it into the universe to manifest, it appears to grow stronger as it takes form. This is a positive thing—the idea needs to be powerful to manifest. By the time this energy "returns" to you, it feels more potent than when you first sent it out. The principles of magic teach us that what we focus on grows; this is the law of increase. However, the idea that a spell leaves you after being cast and then comes back is a misconception. Your mind encompasses your entire experience—past, present, and future—so there's no "outside" for a thought form to travel to. It isn't that the energy leaves you and returns multiplied; it's simply that the energy multiplies as it manifests. The same principle applies to attack magic. As the harmful energy multiplies, it may affect the intended target, but it will inevitably harm you as well because it never leaves you. It's your energy and your thought, and it remains connected to you. It might seem like the negative consequence returns to you three times stronger, but that's an illusion. It was always part of you, growing in intensity right where it was created. Understanding the Reality of The Law of Comeback The concept of actions returning threefold often prompts reflection: "Is this truly what I want? Am I being manipulative? Will this harm someone?" Most people instinctively avoid causing harm. While fleeting anger might cross our thoughts, deliberately crafting a thought form to hurt another—which requires significant effort, skill, and practice—isn't something most are inclined to do. For those who pursue such paths, accepting the consequences is part of their journey, not for others to police. This is why strict adherence to rules like the Wiccan Rede —"Eight words, the Wiccan Rede, fulfill, and it harm none, do what you will" — is restrictive, and thus against the truth of the Craft, which has but one law: “Do what you will.” One shouldn't need a rule to avoid harming others with their magic; personal accountability for one's actions, especially in magical practice, is a given. If you're skilled enough to manifest impactful thought forms, you likely already grasp the fundamental principles of magic: that energy given out affects the practitioner most of all. Therefore, cultivating a positive outlook, strong self-esteem, and a desire for the well-being of all is crucial to practicing magic safely. The Golden Rule is a positive way of living, adopted by many who practice magic. They understand that blessing others doesn't require complex spells or thought forms; the positive energy you project inherently returns to you, as it never truly leaves your sphere. Live with blessings, and your life will be blessed. Live with curses, and your life will be cursed. It's a simple, inherent truth. Developing this healthy perspective becomes second nature once you understand how these universal principles of magic operate. This, however, does not diminish the profound and sacred practice of cursing. It is often said that a mage incapable of cursing is equally incapable of healing. Sacred curses are invoked to serve the greater good, countering malignancies. There are moments when the most benevolent application of one's power is indeed to cast a curse. Such actions are never undertaken lightly or fueled by malice. A sacred curse, believe it or not, always springs from a place of love. Skepticism and Testing Beliefs In Magical Practice Students often overlook a fundamental truth about magic: never passively accept what you're told. While you might be introduced to a principle or a technique, it remains theoretical until you personally test and prove its efficacy. Simply operating on hope or superstition forms an unsteady foundation. True power in any practice, especially in magic, stems from direct knowledge and validated experience—not merely from belief. Consider the gravity of an oath in a courtroom: "Did so-and-so visit your home on that specific date?" Responding with "I believe so" provides only weak testimony. The court rightly demands clarity: do you know for sure, or do you not? Living perpetually within the vague confines of "I believe" or "I hope" doesn't lead to profound magical understanding. To truly master an art, you must actively test the principles of magic, meticulously gathering verifiable proof of their reality and how they operate in your own experience. When exploring the study of magic, it's wise to approach new teachings with respectful yet active skepticism. This isn't cynicism but rather an inquisitive method: temporarily set aside disbelief long enough to give a principle a fair and thorough test. A truly effective concept will reveal its truth through your own consistent application and observation. The most skilled practitioners aren’t skeptics who dismiss everything outright; instead, they engage with new practices with an open yet discerning attitude. They are willing to follow instructions and observe the results objectively. If positive outcomes emerge, this forms their personal evidence. If not, they troubleshoot with teachers or peers until the desired effects are achieved, or they simply move on to a different method. Blind acceptance is never the ultimate goal. Many widely held beliefs, both within and beyond magical communities, are often taken for granted. Consider, for example, the common idea that sage is essential for cleansing a space. Personally, I’ve always cleansed my space without sage—mainly because I dislike its smell. More recently, I came across the argument that using the term "smudge" to describe energetic cleansing is an act of cultural appropriation tied to Native American rituals. However, "smudge" is an English word and does not originate from any indigenous Native American language. This serves as a striking reminder that many so-called "truths" are, in fact, conventional beliefs, deserving of deeper scrutiny and critical thought . Ultimately, whether in magical practice or daily life, the path to genuine comprehension and mastery is paved with active inquiry, personal experimentation, and empirical validation. Don't just hear; listen. Don't just believe; test. Don't just follow; understand. Cultivating this critical faculty allows you to build a practice and a life founded on solid, experience-based knowledge, rather than relying on inherited dogma or unverified assumptions (superstitions). This dedication to testing and understanding the principles of magic transforms abstract concepts into tangible, personal power. The Different Levels of the Mind One of the fundamental principles of magic involves understanding the various levels of the mind. My training centers on a three-part model: the superconscious, the surface, and the deep mind. The deep mind is our unconscious or subconscious self. It communicates through symbols, shapes our dreams, and connects us to the totality of existence. Unlike our conscious thoughts, it operates beyond the physical senses, perceiving intuitively. The subconscious keeps our autonomic bodily functions working, and is also responsible for projecting our beliefs onto the screen of space where we experience them as the “real” world. Our conscious mind, often mistakenly considered our whole self, is the logical, analytical part where our personality and constant thoughts reside. It forms our ego, which is vital for navigating the physical world, as it processes information solely from our senses. The deep mind receives its input from this conscious level. Therefore, by learning to discipline our conscious mind, we can alter the contents of our subconscious mind, which, in turn, influences what manifests in our lives. At the highest level is the superconscious mind—the soul. This is our essence as spiritual beings, direct extensions of the source. Its mode of knowing differs significantly from the other two minds; it's pure spirit. While it may appear in our experiences as a spirit guide or angels, it is genuinely your superconscious self guiding those interactions. The core of magic lies in balancing and facilitating communication among these three levels. Spells, rituals, and talismans are communication tools designed to bridge these inner dimensions. Most magical systems incorporate a form of mental training that focuses on quieting the surface mind and disciplining its activity. By disciplining the surface mind , you gain easier access to your deep mind. This access is crucial when you want to manifest things in your physical reality—be it more money, better health, a new partner, or any other desire. The deep mind is the agent that can bring these into being. Furthermore, it's through the deep mind that we access our superconscious mind. The surface mind cannot comprehend what isn't perceived through the five senses. However, the deep mind and superconscious mind can work together, delivering insights and impressions to the surface mind, thereby expanding its understanding. This process cannot happen directly from the surface mind alone. Patience, Practice, and Building Faith in The Principles of Magic Learning magic is like acquiring any new skill—it requires time, practice, and patience. Just as you wouldn't expect to play a piano sonata after one lesson, you should have modest expectations when you begin. You will face setbacks, doubts, and failures. This is a regular part of the learning process for any new discipline; it's how we improve and build resilience. As you practice, you are also building faith in your own magical abilities. As previously mentioned, it's crucial to work within your "magical sphere of influence." Start with smaller , manageable goals rather than attempting monumental tasks too soon. By focusing on what's within your reach, you can build a solid foundation of successes, which in turn grows your confidence and magical faith. This approach allows you to expand your sphere of influence more effectively over time, as you'll have the foundational skills to support larger workings. The initial goal is to cultivate self-confidence and learn that magical success comes from persistence and mastering the fundamentals. Understanding the principles of magic is essential for anyone looking to develop this skill. Magic is a discipline that thrives on consistent, focused practice. It's a lifelong study, which is why practitioners often advise against merely dabbling. If you only try a little of this and a little of that, you'll never give yourself enough time to master anything or achieve meaningful results. Gaining magical proficiency requires dedication, focus, and the willingness to question your own belief systems to shape a new reality. This journey takes time and commitment, but for those who walk the Way, it is an advantageous path. - Beyond the Swing: Mastering the Hermetic Principle of Rhythm
Discover the Hermetic principle of rhythm, a cosmic law that illuminates the natural ebb and flow of all existence. Building upon the Hermetic principle of polarity—the dance of opposites—this principle reveals how sacred cycles govern our universe. Contemplate the turning of the seasons, the waxing and waning moon, or the cadence of your own breath—each a reflection of rhythmic patterns that repeat and restore balance. From the measured swing of a pendulum to the rise and fall of ocean tides, rhythm is the ever-present pulse shaping the world we experience. The Principle of Rhythm and Its Effects It is essential to understand that our immersion in the illusion of polarity is woven into the very rhythm of oscillation between two poles. This is why it seems you cannot know pleasure without also knowing pain, or light without darkness. The principle of rhythm dictates that for every swing of the pendulum in one direction, an equal and opposite swing will follow. Many live in a state of quiet fear, believing that intense joy must inevitably lead to profound sorrow, or that great prosperity might herald great poverty. This is an expectation we have been conditioned to anticipate, a worldly dance we endure because we are subject to the principle of rhythm. Yet, there is always a deeper way to understand our experiences, a more magical way to transcend any challenge. Many of the trials we face arise from being swayed by the principle of rhythm, causing us to oscillate between extremes. But there is a secret to breaking free from this ceaseless turbulence: envision the principle of rhythm as a pendulum, swinging back and forth through the tapestry of time. The lower you are on the pendulum, the broader and more pronounced the swings from one extreme to the other. Conversely, the higher you ascend, the less intense those extremes become. If you can find your center at the very anchor point of the pendulum, you will discover that there is almost no swing, no movement at all. This reflects the principle of polarity in our three-dimensional reality, where it often seems that two distinct principles are at play. For instance, if you feel deeply upset with someone you love, you might perceive love on one side and its opposite—annoyance, betrayal, or grief—on the other. Through the principle of rhythm, we journey back and forth between these two poles with varying degrees of intensity. The higher you are on the pendulum, the less extreme the experience becomes. Ultimately, as you reach the apex of the pendulum in consciousness, you realize, as we also learn with the law of polarity, that there are never two principles opposing each other. There is only a single principle, with another aspect that shadows it, creating the illusion of polarity. In this example, love is the eternal principle; its opposite does not truly exist, except within the realm of this problem, which is a manifestation of an illusory experience. Rising above polarity allows you to find resolution. Escaping the Pendulum: Rising Above Polarity and Rhythm An experience of a three-dimensional existence is inherently bound by the fundamental laws of polarity and rhythm. Consider the natural world: life on Earth is intricately woven into the cycle of the seasons, the ebb and flow of the tides, and within our very bodies, the rhythmic intake of breath, the pulse of blood through our veins, and the steady beat of our hearts. These are not mere occurrences but rather the very rhythms that govern our physical and experiential reality. Thus, while we are immersed in this tangible reality, it becomes imperative to acknowledge that polarity—the existence of opposites—and rhythm—the oscillation between polarities—are not just incidental but intrinsic aspects of our journey here. They provide the contrast and movement necessary for the experiences of this dimension. Yet, a profound shift in understanding occurs when we begin to recognize that these concepts do not possess an inherent, fixed reality in the way we have been taught they do. Instead, their apparent solidity and undeniable presence serve a specific purpose: to uphold the intricate web of illusions that are essential for our human experiences within this dimension. This recognition is not a dismissal of our reality but an unveiling of its deeper mechanics. This moment of clarity, this piercing through the veil of perceived absolutes, often sparks an undeniable desire within us. It ignites a longing to elevate our consciousness, to transcend these illusions, and to perceive the world, and indeed our place within it, from a significantly higher and more exalted vantage point. In various esoteric traditions, such as Qabalah , this transformative process is eloquently described as "rising on the planes," or ascending through different levels of awareness and understanding. When we successfully elevate our perspective in this manner, we are no longer entrapped by the superficial appearance of these illusions. We begin to discern them for what they truly are: temporary constructs that facilitate experience. Consequently, their perceived power and influence over us begin to diminish, much like a shadow losing its form in direct light. In fact, an inverse dynamic takes hold: we gain a profound sense of dominion over these very illusions. This is because, from an elevated state of consciousness, we are no longer merely caught within the swing of the pendulum of duality, but rather, we find ourselves positioned at its very apex, observing its oscillations from a point of stillness and control. From this elevated standpoint, we are no longer at the mercy of chaotic emotional fluctuations, nor are we buffeted uncontrollably by the unpredictable and often overwhelming swings between what society labels as fortune and misfortune. Instead, we achieve a state of inner equilibrium, capable of navigating the currents of life with greater clarity, purpose, and unshakeable inner peace. The Practice of Presence and Transcendence Navigating the pendulums of life is a journey anyone can choose to undertake. These pendulums symbolize the extremes within us—anger and peace, happiness and sadness, joy and fear. Whenever we find ourselves unsettled, it’s essential to identify the spiritual principle being obscured, which creates this inner turmoil. At the core, it’s always a spiritual principle and its shadow at play. Once you have identified the shadow, you can determine which principle it obscures. For example, if you were facing the drying up of a financial resource, you might be experiencing "loss." Ask yourself what principle this loss is shadowing. In this case, you might say it is the principle of prosperity. Once you know the principle, you simply take a few minutes to concentrate on the principle itself and stop contemplating its shadows. Don't consider the loss, only consider the prosperity. Allow the idea of prosperity to permeate every aspect of your mind. Remind yourself that no spiritual principle has an opposite. This understanding enables you to rise to the top of this particular pendulum. At the top of the pendulum exists only the present moment, where you can enter eternity. The swings of any pendulum occur only in time; they do not happen in eternity. In eternity, the pendulum is still, for there is no polarity for it to swing across. At the apex of the pendulum, there is only the principle itself, without any experience of its shadow. There isn't a polarity of prosperity and loss; there is only prosperity. Shadows cannot exist in the present moment—they only exist in time. Time and space are constructs of three-dimensional reality, not of eternity. The Present Moment: Your Gateway to Eternity You can only approach the timeless realm of eternity through the gateway of the present moment. The concept of "being here now" is a profoundly powerful and transformative practice that enables you to rise above the constant oscillation between the polarities of life, offering a direct and unobstructed path to profound inner peace and clarity. Any volatile experience, any storm of emotional turbulence, can be transcended by entering the sanctuary of eternity and stepping outside of linear time. This sacred exit can only be found through the conscious, deliberate awareness of the present moment. Achieving this profound state of being requires consistent, dedicated practice—a daily commitment to quieting the restless mind and settling the body. This practice involves a radical letting go: not thinking, not deciding, and consciously suspending the assumption that you already understand what is happening or the ultimate meaning of anything you perceive. Instead, the goal is simply to be—to exist as a pure, receptive consciousness. If you continue to allow the oscillations of polarity and the relentless rhythms of life to unconsciously guide your reactions and perceptions, you will remain captive to them, finding it impossible to ever rise above their influence and gain true mastery over your inner world. To escape the perceptual confines of time and space and discover solutions that lie beyond the ordinary, you must learn to draw from the infinite well of eternity itself. The only way to perceive things with fresh, unbiased eyes is to humbly avow your uncertainty and embrace the beginner's mind. When faced with any situation, especially a challenging one, adopt the mantra: “I don’t know what this is for. I don’t know what it truly means.” Acknowledge that resolving any difficult situation, no matter how complex or entrenched, becomes possible if you can elevate your level of thinking beyond the problem itself. To achieve this higher perspective, you must be willing to release your fixed beliefs and let go of your ingrained expectations about how things are or how they should be. Clinging to these is like desperately holding onto the base of a pendulum as it swings wildly over a bottomless abyss. Instead, you must actively and intentionally ask Spirit, your higher self, or the universal consciousness to help you see the situation with a new, enlightened understanding. To truly let Spirit guide you and rise above the world's constant ebb and flow, even for a single sacred moment, you must cultivate a state of deep listening and profound openness. In this quiet space, free from the clutter of distracting thoughts and calcified preconceptions, Spirit can effortlessly direct your path. You learn to align yourself with the core principle or higher purpose underlying any situation, finally unburdened by the world's relentless rhythms and its endless dance of opposing forces. Living Above the Volatility of The Lower Planes You don’t need to be a teacher for others to learn from you—people are inspired by example. As you elevate your thinking, you naturally rise above the push and pull of life’s rhythms, encouraging others to do the same. The principle of rhythm, like the principle of polarity, is neither inherently good nor bad; it simply exists as part of the illusion we navigate. This illusion isn’t harmful—it’s just not real. Understanding this can free you from feeling like a victim of its effects. Instead, you can learn to move within it gracefully and with purpose. Recognize yourself as a spiritual, eternal being having experiences within the time-space continuum. As someone who exists beyond the constraints of time, you can tap into your timeless nature. This awareness allows you to transcend the illusion of temporal limitations, aligning with the ancient Hermetic practice of transmutation. Rather than being bound by the pendulum swing of polarity—constantly shifting between extremes of joy and hardship—you can anchor your perspective in eternity. When viewed through the lens of time, life appears to oscillate endlessly between opposites: desiring the good and fearing the bad, with each moment of joy seemingly balanced by an equal moment of struggle. Yet, when you rise above this pendulum swing and look from the vantage point of eternity, the shadow aspects of these principles dissolve. You come to see that, in eternity, every principle exists without its opposite—whole, balanced, and unbroken. This change in perspective is transformative. By transcending the limitations of temporal existence, you gain a profound understanding of your eternal essence, allowing you to navigate life with unwavering clarity and inner peace. The Path to Spiritual Freedom To rise above life's challenges, start each day with a conscious intention. Declare to yourself, "Today, I will transcend all extremes. I will relax my body and mind, stay present, and connect with the timeless." This simple affirmation sets a powerful tone, shifting your focus from being caught in life's ups and downs to actively choosing a state of higher awareness and inner peace. By setting this intention, you are not denying the existence of challenges but rather resolving to meet them from a place of centered calm, refusing to be swayed by external chaos. With this intention set, the next step is to open your mind and truly listen. This is not a passive act but an engaged practice of listening with your entire being. Instead of projecting your own assumptions, fears, and desires onto your reality, make a conscious effort to quiet your internal monologue. Focus on receiving what the universe is presenting to you in each moment. Through this deep, sacred listening, you will begin to perceive that reality is far more expansive and nuanced than your limited perspective allows. This practice creates the space needed to recognize the mental and emotional weights that hold you down. These weights are like the sandbags tethered to a hot air balloon, keeping it grounded. They consist of old resentments, lingering anxieties, self-limiting beliefs, and ingrained patterns of reaction. The act of deep listening gives you the clarity to identify these burdens for what they are. Once you see them, you gain the impetus to release them. This release is a conscious choice to let go of what no longer serves you, cutting the tethers that bind you to your current circumstances and emotional states. As you release these burdens, you will find yourself naturally rising, ascending effortlessly above the frantic swing of the pendulum. This is not a struggle but a return to your inherent nature. This elevated state of being is where your soul already resides—a place of innate tranquility, clarity, and unwavering peace. You don’t have to fight to get there; you simply have to let go of what is holding you down. The ascent is a natural consequence of releasing the weights of the past and the anxieties about the future. From this serene vantage point at the top of the pendulum, you are no longer a victim of its chaotic oscillations between polarities. You can observe the swings without being caught in them. In this position of inner calm and heightened awareness, you can consciously engage with the universal law of rhythm. Instead of being tossed about by life's reactive and often destructive forces, you can now use the natural ebb and flow to deliberately create the reality you truly desire, navigating life with grace, purpose, and profound peace. Rising Above the Ego's Misuse of The Principle of Rhythm The ego is the part of us that believes only what we can experience with our senses is real. This way of thinking traps us in a limited reality, making us assume we already know everything. Because we're stuck in these old patterns, we miss the chance to see things from a higher perspective. Imagine you only speak English but are surrounded by people speaking a different language. If you assume you understand them, you'll be trapped in your own misunderstanding. But the moment you admit, "I don't understand," you open yourself up to learning from someone who can teach you. Our guidance, which comes from a higher aspect of ourselves, can show us how to rise above our limited viewpoints. Once we break free from being controlled by these limiting patterns, we can use the principle of rhythm to our advantage. I becomes a tool, not a chain. When we operate from this empowered state, we are no longer victims of life's ups and downs. By learning to rise above, we can inspire others to do the same. It can be tempting to fall back into the familiar, chaotic rhythm of daily life. However, if you regularly take moments to connect with this higher, timeless perspective, it becomes easier to stay there. Just like practicing an instrument or a sport, this requires daily effort. If you dedicate time each day to open your mind and let go of your burdens, you allow yourself to naturally rise to new heights, even if just for a moment. Over time, this practice can become a new habit, helping you access a state of timelessness and thus gain mastery over the world of time. Embracing Eternal Balance Ultimately, according to ancient teachings, you can be freed from the cycle of birth and death. This is the ultimate liberation: to move beyond the constant pull of polarity and rhythm in this world. Remember, each day and every moment presents a choice. If you find yourself being tossed about by the Principle of rhythm, know that there is always a way to rise above it. That way lies in seeking just a moment of eternity instead of remaining trapped in linear time. Thank you for taking the time to journey with me through this article. I truly appreciate you. - Kether: the Crown, and The Power of I Am
It is essential to understand that in the Hermetic Qabalah , the God Names associated with each sphere of the Qabalistic Tree are not deities to be worshipped, but formulas to be used. One of the most profound of these is The Power of I Am. Discovering the Power of I Am The First sphere on the Qabalistic Tree exists as Kether, which represents the Crown, the power of I Am. The second and third spheres of Chokmah and Binah are male and female archetypes that represent the Father and Mother. The first sphere exists independently of the second and third spheres because it contains the single crown, which they share. A monarch serves as an example for this concept. The physical crown, which kings and queens display, functions as a representation of their actual royal authority. The first sphere of the universe represents the unified divine power that exists before gender appears. The holy name associated with the Crown, found at the top of the Tree of Life, is Ehyeh. Pronounced Eh-heh-yeh, this name is a formula spelled Aleph-Heh-Yod-Heh. We know it translates to “I Am,” but let us examine its components to appreciate its magical significance and the Power of I Am. Aleph represents an ox head. In the ancient Near Eastern world, the ox was an animal of immense strength and importance. Unlike the Tetragrammaton, which begins with Yod (a hand), Ehyeh begins with the ox, signifying the full weight and power of pure being. Following Aleph are two instances of Heh, which symbolize a window or mirror, separated by Yod, the hand. Thus, the formula of “I Am” can be read as: Ox, Window, Hand, Window. Consider the biblical chapter where this name is revealed: Exodus. The prophet Moses experiences a vision of a burning bush—a celestial encounter. From this power, he receives a directive. When Moses asks who he should say sent him, the voice replies, “I Am.” This is the first explicit appearance of The Power of I Am in the Western mystical tradition. The biblical phrase "Ehyeh Asher Ehyeh" is often translated as "I Am That I Am," but its meaning in ancient Hebrew is far more nuanced. The verb "Ehyeh" is in the imperfect tense, which can imply a future tense, such as "I will be." In magic, Ehyeh transcends time. The imperfect tense reflects a continuous, eternal existence—an unbounded "I Am" that is eternal. It signifies a timeless, complete, and infinite state of being. The Formula of “I Am” and Its Biblical Roots The name of Kether, the Crown, is "I Am." When Moses asked who sent him, the voice replied, "Tell them I Am sent you." This name and the Tetragrammaton (YHVH, also called Yahweh) are closely related. The Tetragrammaton suggests a meaning such as "that which causes to be," an eternal becoming. But "I Am" is already here. “I Am” is definitive, immediate, and absolute. To address the divine at the Crown of the Tree of Life by its name, you cannot say "You are." That is not the correct name. You must say, "I Am." This is the core of The Power of I Am. This is a profound instruction. To call upon this power, you must claim it as your own. Magic is not a petition to an external deity, but an invocation of the deity within. The "I" that you are is a continuation of a greater "I"—not two separate entities, but one. You are as a sunbeam to the sun; your individual "I Am" is an extension of the eternal I Am-ness that flows through all time and space. Some have tried to interpret the Hebrew "Ehyeh" as "I will be," placing it within a linear understanding of time. But infinite intelligence cannot be confined to the future. The closest we can come to timelessness in this world is the present moment. Therefore, the Crown represents a power that exists only in the now, eternal, and infinite. This is why the top of the tree is like the bottom sphere (Malkuth). Kether is 1, and Malkuth is 10. But in the spiritual calculus of the present moment, 10 becomes 1 again, as 1 plus 0 equals 1. By staying in the now, you resolve the inherent conflict of the material world and return to the unity of the source. The name "Ehyeh" is a formula. When you use the phrase "I Am," you are invoking this creative power. Think of what you attach to this formula each day: "I Am tired." "I Am angry." "I Am sick of this." Each phrase is a spell you cast upon yourself. This is the magical meaning behind the admonition not to take the Lord's name in vain. It is a warning to be mindful of how you use this power. The Lord is not an external king; the Lord is I Am. That is the name of God. And when you speak it, you are defining your reality. This is the practical application of The Power of I Am. The Power of “I Am” in Magical Practice Every time you say the words "I Am" or "I'm," you are calling upon the boundless power of the universe. It is a profound statement of existence, a declaration that connects you to the ultimate creative force. Yet we often use these words carelessly, misusing the word " and " and forgetting that they channel the supreme power. "I Am" is not merely words—it is the name of the divine, the essence of being itself. It is not "he is," "she is," “you are,” or "they are." It is "I Am." The power rests within you. To declare "I Am not good enough" is to misuse the immense power of your own word, effectively casting a curse upon yourself. To curse something is to bind it with limitations, and to deny your own worth by the phrase "I Am" is equally destructive. The negative consequences that follow are not divine punishments, for there is no such external force. Rather, you are reaping the natural results of misusing your inherent creative power—the very power of existence that resides within you. This is the shadow side of The Power of I Am. The phrase "I Am" carries a deep formula of power. In ancient symbolism, the ox represents strength—absolute and unshakable. It begins with this strength: you are the power. The window follows, a reflection of your power, a moment to see yourself as the source of creation in your world. Then comes the hand, the act of shaping your power, crafting your reality. Another window reveals the results of your creation, the manifestation of the power you have wielded. This cycle is a profound expression of how your inner force translates into the external world. This formula mirrors the Tetragrammaton but with an even sharper focus. There is no ambiguity about where the power lies—it resides in you and no one else. "I Am" is the ultimate statement of authority, the spark of creation. It is echoed in the Biblical phrase, "I Am That I Am." This is not a distant truth; it is personal. "I Am that I will to be." The words point back to you, to your ability to define, create, and give meaning. Look around you. Everything you see is infused with the power of "I Am." The table, the lamp, the wall—they are all reflections of the energy you project. When you say, "I Am that," you acknowledge your role as the giver of meaning. You have ascribed purpose and value to everything in your reality. This is the essence of creation: the recognition that you, through "I Am," have shaped the universe around you. Therein lies the mystery and the mastery of the first principle—you are the source, and "I Am" is your declaration of existence and power. This is the heart of The Power of I Am. Projection, Perception, and the Role of the Ego You are responsible for everything in your world. You have projected all meaning onto every object and experience, based on what you have been taught and what you have conceptualized. In this way, you are the god of your world. However, there is a greater "I Am"—a universal intelligence. When we allow this greater "I Am" to inform us, our projections change. We are no longer operating within a closed mental system. Whether you like it or not, you will always be the god of your universe. What you can change is the nature of that god. By opening your mind to the greater "I Am," the statements you make about yourself and your world begin to transform. You are no longer bound by your past and its projections. "I Am that sickness" becomes "I Am that health." "I Am that poverty" becomes "I Am that prosperity." "I Am that pain" becomes "I Am that bliss." Infinite intelligence is not bound by an ego, but when the ego seizes your "I Am" power, it projects limitation and separation onto your world. From a magical point of view, when you face a problem, you can say, "I Am that." This is not an act of accepting blame, but of taking responsibility for your perception and for projecting this reality into your life. It is also a commitment to opening your mind to the greater "I Am" so you can see the situation for what it is, rather than for what it was. Too often, we take this power in vain by turning our world into an "I was," constantly projecting our past onto the present. We tell ourselves "I Am," but what we really mean is "I was," and in doing so, we lie to ourselves. An "I was" is temporary; "I Am" is permanent. The ego's trick is to convince you that what was happening is what is happening. Pay attention to how you use the words "I Am." They can tie you to your past, trapping you in a cycle of reliving old experiences. When you invite the greater "I Am" into your experience, you begin to see from a universal, soul-level perspective rather than an egoic one. The things you once projected meaning onto are bathed in a new light. This is the real world happening just beneath the surface—a world of "I Am," not "I was." Commit to using "I Am" only to tell the truth. "I Am sick" is not the truth; your soul cannot be sick. "My body is sick" is a more accurate statement. "I Am angry" is a declaration of identity, whereas "I Am feeling anger" describes a transient state. One is a lie, the other is true, and the difference is everything. This is the discernment that comes with understanding The Power of I Am. Transformation, Affirmation, and Next Steps The phrase "I Am" is more than a simple statement of being; it is a declaration that shapes reality. When we attach "I Am" to something that does not align with our soul's true will, we speak a lie. These untruths create illusion, tethering us to the past. Remember, the divine name, Ehyeh, "I Am," is a statement of eternal, imperfect tense. It is eternal. Consider what you bind yourself to with this power. To say, "I Am sick," is to claim sickness as an eternal state. Instead, one might simply notice symptoms, for example "My nose is stuffy." This is a description of a temporary state, not a definition of your eternal being. To say "I Am" anything other than your true self is a profound misstep. By understanding this, you can consciously engage with the creative formula of "I Am"—and truly harness The Power of I Am. When we practice affirmations, it can feel dishonest to say, "I Am prosperous," when our circumstances feel anything but. The subtle but crucial shift is from describing a state to embodying the principle itself. It is not "I Am prosperous," but "I Am prosperity." It is not "I Am joyful," but "I Am joy." This is not a lie; it is an alignment with the reality you wish to express, a reality that already exists for you as a potentiality. By declaring "I Am health," you set in motion the forces of healing. Pay attention this week to how you use the sacred phrase "I Am" in your daily speech. Do you use it to affirm your desires or to reinforce your limitations? From a magical perspective, to use this power unconsciously is to take it in vain. While your soul's "I Am" exists as a constant, potent force, you have a choice. You can let it lie dormant, serving the whims of your ego, or you can begin to consciously use your mind to invoke its constructive power. In every moment, you choose how to wield this force. You might declare, "I Am sick," but you can just as quickly retract that statement and replace it with, "I Am health." This doesn't deny the physical reality of a stomach ache; rather, it reclaims your essential nature from a temporary condition. Look around you. Everything you see is a reflection of a previous "I Am" declaration. You have given meaning to every object, every circumstance. By becoming aware of this, you can open yourself to a greater interpretation—to see the world not through the ego's limited lens, but through the expansive vision of the soul. Embrace the Power of I Am As you move forward, remember that the words "I Am" hold the power to shape your reality. They are more than just words—they are declarations of your creative authority. By aligning your "I Am" statements with your soul's truth, you can transform your experiences and step into a life of limitless potential. This is the true Power of I Am. Every moment presents an opportunity to choose how you use this sacred force. Will you let it serve the ego’s illusions, or will you harness it to express your highest truth? Begin by observing your language and thoughts. Shift your focus from limitation to possibility, from "I Am stuck" to "I Am free," from "I Am broken" to "I Am whole." Transformation unfolds with every conscious choice. With practice, you’ll find that the world begins to reflect the light of your new declarations, revealing a reality that aligns with your true essence. You are not bound by what was; you are free to create what is. The power is yours—use it wisely. "I Am" Statements to Get You Started Here are some powerful examples of "I Am" statements. Notice the difference in feeling between attaching "I Am" to a noun versus an adjective. Experiment with both to see what resonates most with you as you learn to work with your I Am power and truly experience The Power of I Am. I Am Love; I Am Loving I Am Health; I Am Healthy I Am Success; I Am Successful I Am Peace; I Am Peaceful I Am Joy; I Am Joyous I Am Power; I Am Powerful I Am Wisdom; I Am Wise I Am Gratitude; I Am Grateful I Am Prosperity; I Am Prosperous I Am Safety; I Am Safe I Am Power; I Am Powerful
- Who is Lucifer? Understanding the Light-Bringer
Lucifer is often viewed as a figure to be feared. He is seen as the leader of the rebellion against God, the opponent of Christ, and the Father of Lies. This perception is a misconception. Lucifer is not the embodiment of ultimate evil. Instead, he represents pure light, independence, and the cause of the illusory reality we experience as “the world.” Understanding Lucifer’s true story is essential for self-knowledge. The darker side of the old story is just the beginning. The more intriguing part is what happens after the fall. When one falls, we instinctively rise again. Lucifer, as the first angel, does not repeat his mistakes. His path is not about falling; it is about awakening. Our real work begins when we look beyond dogma to see the universal patterns and symbols that shape our experiences. To simplify, Lucifer's story is about separation and reintegration. The fall created a fracture in human consciousness. This fracture continues to affect us today. The First Light: Who is Lucifer? In the Book of Genesis, before creation began, the Elohim declared, “Let there be light.” This was the first breath, the first emanation from the divine. That first extension of light was Lucifer. In Latin, Lucifer means “light-bearer.” He was the first and brightest star in the heave. The modern idea that Lucifer is synonymous with Satan is a misunderstanding. Lucifer is not evil . He was the first being to make a decision that diverged from the Divine order. His story is one of rebellion, but it is crucial to examine the true nature of this rebellion. Lucifer did not act out of hatred for his Creator or a desire for power. He chose to act independently. Initially, all creation was an extension of God's will. When Lucifer chose to create independently, he introduced a new idea separate from God. This act birthed a separate self or ego, distinct from the divine source. A Tale of Two Rebels: Lucifer and Prometheus To understand Lucifer’s fall, we can compare it to the Greek tale of Prometheus. In Greek mythology, Prometheus was a Titan who created humanity but left them in darkness. He felt compassion for them and decided to steal fire from the gods. Prometheus broke the ancient law against touching divine property. His intentions were compassionate, but the humans were not ready for fire. Fire is a powerful gift, and without wisdom, it can become a curse. Prometheus's act was the first instance of the ego rising to break divine law, leading to his punishment. The opening of Pandora’s box was a direct consequence of Prometheus’s rebellion. This act released suffering into the world. We are not only suffering by our design but also due to divine compassion. Lucifer’s story mirrors this. Like Prometheus, he acted independently and compassionately, yet outside divine harmony. He created a fracture in creation, setting off a chain of events with real consequences. He chose to create not in accordance with God's will, but by his own volition. The Birth of the Demiurge: A Fracture in Consciousness Lucifer’s first independent action introduced a new idea: isolation. God extends himself as light, but Lucifer chose to act for himself. This decision planted the seed of a separate mind and individual ego. The Gnostics called this the demiurge . The demiurge represents humanity's belief in separation. By subscribing to this narrative, we affirm our separateness from one another, the earth, and our source. Neither the demiurge nor our individual egos are objectively real. They are illusions. The sensation of being separate is powerful but not true. These sensations are the results of a mind disconnected from its unified nature. To fight the ego is to empower it. The ego is a phantom, an illusion. The sooner we recognize it for what it is, the sooner we can awaken from the dream. Lucifer's story teaches us about the illusion of separation and points the way to redemption. The Grand Illusion: the Dream of Separation Many find it hard to accept that separation is illusory. Every moment of our lives seems to affirm it. We experience ourselves as private selves with personal thoughts. But what if this life is a dream? All suffering, conflict, and negative aspects of the human condition stem from a mind that has forgotten its oneness. We create our own private hell, supporting these beliefs by projecting them into the world. Take money, for example. It is a primary source of stress for many. People feel trapped by their jobs and unable to manifest their desires. Yet money is an illusion—a mirage. It is a system of symbols we assign value to, stemming from our belief in separation. The ego is our false creation. We remain attached to it by interacting with it. Its primary role is to keep us entrenched in the dream. The closer we get to awakening, the more frantic the ego becomes. To understand this distraction, we must ask, "Who is Lucifer?" The Path of Atonement: From Fall to Awakening Lucifer's story does not end with his fall. It continues with his rise and realization of his descent. As a being of compassion, he did not want humanity to suffer in the nightmare he unintentionally created. In an act of atonement , he sought to restore his unity with the Creator. For a compelling narrative about Lucifer's redemption, read the story of the Prodigal Son. Inspired by this tale, I wrote "How Michael Forgave Lucifer," exploring the relationship between Lucifer and Michael. This is the path humanity must take. We are not separate. This dream is not absolute. We have the power to awaken. The path has already been made. Lucifer, the light-bringer, points the way he has successfully tread. Awakening requires choice. We must desire truth more than the dream. Many of us are invested in our suffering and identity. To wake up, we must question everything we’ve been told about this world. The Echoes of Light: Luciferian Archetypes Throughout History The fallen and redeemed light-bringer archetype is not unique. Many spiritual traditions feature similar stories. Figures like Jesus, Horus, Mithras, and Krishna embody this archetype. Each of these figures is a savior, a bringer of divine knowledge. They descend into the dream to guide humanity back to the light. Their teachings share a common theme: the world of suffering is an illusion, and salvation lies in remembering our divine origin. Awakening from the Dream: The Simplicity of Salvation A true magical adept looks at chaos and affirms, “You are not as you seem.” The holy mind of God cannot become fragmented. We cannot un-create what is eternal. We have the freedom of thought. We can choose to believe we can defy the Creator's will. When we do, we create nightmares of pain and struggle. Yet, throughout history, the Godhead has been waking us up. When you wake from a nightmare, you know it wasn’t real. The terror fades because you understand it was just a dream. Our nightly dreams are merely dreams within a larger dream. The waking life will dissolve in the moment of spiritual awakening. Only love will remain. Your Role in the Great Awakening The path of awakening is available to us in our daily lives. As we awaken, we can reflect divine order rather than the ego's chaos. Our lives can serve as examples that it is possible to live in order, health, and prosperity. A mass awakening is unfolding. You won't find it in the news; it occurs within. The ego cannot comprehend this shift. It will insist you are insignificant. But the ego is not real. Every person who chooses to awaken plays a vital role in this transformation. Salvation is simple: what is true is always true. If it is not love, it is not real. You have the power to reject the unreal. The ego's most potent weapon is addiction, especially to being right. The question is: do you want to be right about the dream, or do you want to awaken? Awakening is realizing that what is true has always been true. The deeper message of Lucifer—who is Lucifer?—is that the fall was never real. We can let go of this illusion and awaken in the present moment. As you awaken, you will witness others awakening. This is a shared process, supported by guidance. All you need to do is ask for it. You are exactly where you are supposed to be. Keep your attention on the choice available in every moment: Do I choose to sleep, or do I choose to awaken?
- How to Use Psalm 7 to Overcome Guilt: Psalm Magic
Today, we explore the profound spiritual power of Psalm 7 through the practice of Psalm Magic. Traditionally, this psalm is a potent tool for specific, vital purposes: breaking hexes and curses, vindicating the falsely accused, ensuring righteous court verdicts, overcoming formidable obstacles, and neutralizing conspiracies. Our focus today will be on harnessing its strength to recognize and affirm our divine innocence and to purify ourselves from all feelings of guilt. The process for working Psalm Magic is simple yet profoundly effective. First, we recite the entire psalm aloud once without stopping – this is our initial incantation . Following this, we revisit the psalm verse by verse, diligently searching for hidden occult meanings, or "magic seeds," within each one. While you may never find every single one, actively seeking these seeds of magic and applying them to your personal situation is crucial. By engaging in this practice, these magical seeds are planted within our deep minds, allowing them to take root, grow, and bear powerful fruit in our lives. Psalm 7 O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver. O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands; If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:) Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah. Arise, O Lord, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded. So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high. The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins. My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready. He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors. Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate. I will praise the Lord according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the Lord most high. O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me "The Lord" represents the single, universal force. It's crucial to align with this concept before working any Psalm magic . When we focus on the oneness of "the Lord," we are orienting ourselves to the unopposed force of the universe, which ensures our success. So, whatever brought you to this Psalm—whether you're being unjustly accused, cursed, hexed, or even just feeling jinxed—you must recognize that this isn't fair and not the will of the infinite. A jinx often comes from our own thought patterns, while a curse is placed upon us by someone else. Regardless of the source, when you sense that things are not right, it's time to take action. When you align with the one force, the one source, you are in a position to plead your case. In this Psalm, "the Lord" is depicted as a judge in a court of law. We are approaching this court to be judged fairly because we are innocent, and we are asserting our innocence. If you struggle with feelings of guilt, this Psalm can help you understand that you were created innocent and "righteous." Righteousness is your natural state, regardless of any mistakes you've made. The infinite sees you as you were created: righteous. The Psalm says, "Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust. Please save me from all those who persecute me. Deliver me." Having aligned with this universal force, you can confidently place your trust in it. You can know that whatever is making you feel persecuted, whether internal or external, you will be delivered from it. To be delivered means the problem ceases to exist for you instantly. Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver. When facing overwhelming problems, it’s easy to feel like your own strength isn’t enough. This is a regular part of being human, and recognizing your limits isn’t a weakness—it’s a step toward growth. You can shift your perspective and place your trust in the Infinite, a power greater than yourself. Psalm Magi c helps you connect with the unlimited source of strength, making what once seemed impossible achievable. With this connection, you can overcome obstacles, accomplish more, and move forward with confidence, knowing the ultimate power in the universe supports you. O Lord my God, if I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands. If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:) Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah. If you're judging yourself, thinking, "I'm not perfect, look at what I've done, maybe I deserve this," stop that thought. Remember, our thoughts create our reality. Believing you're guilty sets up a demand for punishment. The Infinite didn't create you guilty. Your ego might tell you otherwise, pointing to past mistakes as reasons you deserve suffering. But it's crucial to acknowledge these feelings and then surrender them to a higher power. This power doesn't judge you as being guilty; it sees you as you were created, its innocent and beloved child. It’s something the ego can understand, but you aren't powerful enough to stop the divine from loving you. You can't commit "sins" so terrible that the infinite won't help you. Even if you believe you deserve consequences for past mistakes, the divine offers boundless grace when you surrender to its infinite power and unstoppable presence. The Infinite rejects the notion that you are meant to suffer, instead seeing you as inherently righteous. It affirms that this righteousness is your only true essence, untouched by anything that has happened before. Arise, O Lord, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded. When you use Psalm Magic , it’s usually to address a problem in your life. That problem is the "enemy" mentioned in the Psalm, along with everything tied to it—its causes and complications. It’s depicted as calling on a dormant divine power to wake up and help you. This represents the idea that this power is always available to us, but won't act without being invited—it doesn't intervene unasked, as that would be forceful. The infinite won't impose itself, but when called upon, it always answers. When healing manifests, your ego or the problems themselves would perceive it as divine anger. Consider how darkness might be seen to react to light: the light harbors no animosity, yet its presence feels like fury as darkness is eradicated. Likewise, your challenges or perceived "enemies" might experience what feels like the "wrath of the Divine." However, this is not genuine anger. The Infinite holds no malice towards these constructs, as they are not of its creation; they are literally nothing and thus lie beyond its recognition. Instead, the Divine simply embodies the pure light and corrective truth that heals. It's easy to get stuck in old, dramatic ideas and think God is angry. However, you shouldn't attribute human emotions to the infinite. If you do, you're not genuinely engaging with the single power, source, and force of the universe; you're just dealing with a projection of your ego. So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high. In Psalm magic , "people" represent your thoughts, and the "congregation of the people" signifies your thought forms. The core idea is to direct these thought forms towards the infinite, rather than dwelling on problems. We command our minds to focus on the Infinite, trusting it to handle the issue. If we knew how to fix the problem ourselves, it would already be solved. Our constant thinking, worrying, and planning about the situation haven't worked. So, the Psalm clearly instructs us to shift our focused thoughts away from the problem and onto the Lord, or this higher power, allowing it to heal the situation. When you remember the Infinite, it reappears in your mind through your focus. The key to solving any problem, especially a stubborn one, is to keep your thoughts on the infinite continuously. The Lord shall judge the people: judge me, O Lord, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. The Lord sees only the perfect, true self within you, not your mistakes. This affirmation is for your benefit, reminding you of this truth. When you recognize this inherent perfection, you shift your focus from problems and errors to your own goodness. This is how healing happens, and your problem dissolves. The past is behind you; whatever has occurred is over. Avoid dwelling on past actions or mistakes, whether yours or others'. Instead, direct your focus to solutions and the infinite source of all being. Oh, let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins. When God tests the hearts and reins, it’s not about proving your worthiness. Instead, it’s about discerning which parts of you are authentic and which are not. The parts of you tied to the problem you’re facing are not the parts that the Infinite created. We want God to examine and judge those parts so they can be removed and no longer burden us. When you go to God as a judge, you’re asking for a process of sorting—keeping what is true and good while letting go of what is false and harmful. It’s about keeping what is genuinely you at your core and discarding what isn’t. The falseness within us is what creates problems, as the ego thrives on them. The ego aims to keep us preoccupied with problems, distracting us from our true selves. By asking God to remove the falseness, we can focus on what truly matters and find relief from the constant cycle of problems. My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. This verse is a powerful idea to keep in mind. Our problems often take root in our lives because we feel we have to defend ourselves against negativity. When we become defensive, we inadvertently make these negative things more real and solid in our experiences, giving them power in our lives. The more we defend ourselves, the more we find things to defend against. The goal suggested by this verse is to lower our personal defenses and let a higher power—the infinite—be our defender. We aren’t to carry that burden ourselves. This doesn't mean ignoring practical safety. Of course, you should still lock your door at night and set your security alarm. This is about the internal defense we carry in our hearts and our energy—the tension that comes from always being on guard. Instead of holding onto that tension, the idea is to relax your internal defenses and trust the infinite to handle the defending for you. God judgeth the righteous and God is angry with the wicked every day. It often seems that when a divine presence appears, the "wicked" are destroyed, leading to the assumption that God is angry with them. This is a primitive interpretation. In reality, there is no anger involved. It simply appears that way from a limited perspective. God judges the righteous, meaning you are judged according to your inherent righteousness, because that is your true nature. "Righteous" simply means healthy, of sound mind, and innocent. You are fundamentally innocent, and you cannot change that, no matter how hard you try. Some people behave horribly because their egos want to prove their separateness to the divine, as if to say, "See, I'm not righteous. I'm special." This effort will always fail. It may take a lot of personal unraveling to understand this truth about yourself. But if you can grasp it now, you'll realize that nothing you do can make God angry with you, stop loving you, or see you as anything other than the perfect and innocent child of the universe that you are. You might as well stop trying to prove otherwise. If he turn not, he will whet his sword. He hath bent his bow and made it ready. He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death. He ordained his arrows against his persecutors. The ego's primary role is centered on attack and defense. It operates as a mechanism designed to protect the false self, constantly building barriers and preparing for perceived threats. This relentless drive to fortify its position creates an attitude of separation and fear, where the ego sees itself as under constant attack. The term “Instruments of Death” refers to the tools employed by the ego mind to maintain its control—these include fear, judgment, guilt, and attack. These tools are not intended to foster growth or connection, but rather to perpetuate a cycle of conflict and isolation. It’s crucial to recognize that the ultimate purpose of the ego, though it claims to protect, is self-destruction. By keeping us trapped in fear and separation, all tools of the ego become “instruments of death,” preventing us from reaching peace, unity, and a higher understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Understanding this dynamic is crucial to breaking free from the ego's grip and moving toward a more authentic and fulfilling way of being. Behold, he travaileth with iniquity and hath conceived mischief and brought forth falsehood. It's all falsehood. Anything that the ego tells you is false. The ego thrives on fear, doubt, and separation, constantly feeding you thoughts that diminish your sense of peace and connection. But how do you distinguish between the ego and your spirit? Start by asking yourself: How do I feel? Do you feel peaceful, calm, and grounded? Do you have an unwavering sense of certainty that the infinite loves you and that you are a perfect, whole, and cherished being? If so, you are listening to the voice of your spirit—the voice of truth and love. On the other hand, if you feel upset, afraid, angry, or defensive, ready to attack or protect yourself, then you’re likely hearing the voice of the ego. The ego’s voice is often loud, insistent, and rooted in fear, attempting to pull you away from your inner knowing. By tuning into your emotions and observing your reactions, you can begin to tell which voice is guiding you. Choose the voice that brings you back to love, peace, and connection—it is always the truth. He hath made a pit and digged it and is fallen into the ditch which he made. When the ego creates a problem, it often ends up being destroyed by the very problem it made—like digging a pit and then falling into it. The same goes for any difficulty or so-called "evil" in the world. Evil, in this sense, just means anything that goes against truth. Lies, darkness, problems—anything that isn’t rooted in absolute truth and perfection—will ultimately destroy itself and end up in the pit it dug. If you can emotionally detach yourself from a situation, you’ll speed up this process. You might not always be able to remove yourself from a problem physically—life has responsibilities, and you’ll be guided on what you need to do practically. But by stepping back emotionally and trusting that it’s being handled, you allow the problem to resolve quickly, often remarkably so. Without your emotional engagement to keep it alive, the issue will naturally collapse into the pit it has created for itself. Every problem has its resolution, one way or another, but you can help it resolve more smoothly by letting go and trusting the infinite to take care of it for you. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealings shall come down upon his own pate. If someone is causing you harm—whether through their actions, words, or behavior—it’s important to remember that actions have consequences. Their harmful behavior will ultimately catch up with them, leading to its own natural resolution. This principle, often referred to as karmic justice or cause and effect, doesn’t require your involvement. It’s not your responsibility to ensure they face the consequences, nor is it your job to track when or how it happens. Trust that the Infinit has its way of restoring balance. Let it unfold in its own time. What truly matters is resolving the problem in your life. If someone’s behavior is harmful, it’s perfectly permissible—and often necessary—to remove them from your life or limit their influence on you. Never feel guilty for creating healthy boundaries to protect your peace, safety, and mental health. Let the Infinite help you build a life free from all harm, and let go of any obsession over how justice will come to those who have wronged you. Their fate is not yours to decide or dwell on. By choosing to focus on your own healing, safety, happiness, and growth, you reclaim your power and allow yourself to move forward, free from the weight of their actions. I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, and I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. Your purpose is to praise the Lord's righteousness. The Lord, the Infinite, is pure righteousness. You are an extension of this righteousness, making you inherently righteous as well. This truth, that we are all righteous, is worthy of your praise. Praise means enthusiastically acknowledging what is good. For instance, celebrating your own inherent innocence, knowing it originates from the Infinite. Your task is to actively seek out things to praise, just as the Psalm states, "I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High." Consider the many qualities of the Infinite: infinite prosperity, love, joy, life, spirit, intelligence, and so on. Focus on one divine quality at a time and praise it. Observe where you see this quality in your life, in the world, and within your heart. The more you do this, the more these positive attributes will manifest, replacing the problems you face. Conversely, dwelling on problems prevents healing, as you close off any entry point for positive change. The Psalm clearly directs you to spend your time praising the Lord. All Psalms, in essence, guide you towards this path, which is why they are effective in solving any problem. This particular Psalm is no exception. How to Complete Your Psalm Magic Continue returning to this Psalm each day. Meditate on its words, allowing them to wash over you until you feel a deep sense of peace and certainty that the issue you've brought to the Psalm has been resolved. Once you have reached that feeling of peace and certainty, let it go entirely and move forward with confidence. Put the matter out of your mind completely and move on to something else. Thank you for taking the time to be here and for sharing this moment of reflection. I affirm that this practice brings you outstanding results. Until we meet again, stay blessed.
