A widely held religious perspective views humanity as inherently sinful, portraying us as small beings in need of a higher power's grace and forgiveness to escape eternal punishment. This belief in our fundamental flaws can stifle natural self-expression and suppress individuality. Yet, the ability to question and challenge such doctrines is always within us. For those raised under this worldview, the notion of challenging this belief may never arise. But when it does, it marks a liberating step toward true freedom, abundance, and the capacity to overcome scarcity in all its forms.
Embracing Freedom from Our Beliefs In Scarcity
On one hand, many are taught to believe in a loving and benevolent creator. On the other hand, many are told that we are inherently sinful due to the sins of our ancestors, such as Adam and Eve. Some learn that an innocent Son of God was sent to die for our sins, and that we must surrender to him—and often to a church or group associated with him—to avoid divine punishment, including eternal suffering if we refuse to accept this savior and cleanse our inherent sinfulness. It’s essential to recognize that, regardless of whether you were raised in a religious tradition, these ideas influence the collective consciousness—and therefore, you. As a side note, none of the statements attributed to Jesus of Nazareth support the belief that humans are inherently sinful. In fact, he taught that the kingdom of heaven resides within each of us.
Many traditional witchcraft practices actively reject the notion of inherent sinfulness. For example, in Paul Huson's book 'Mastering Witchcraft,' one of the initial suggestions is to detach yourself from such beliefs altogether. His recommendation is to recite the Lord's Prayer backward once per day for three days. This practice, when done with the intention of freeing yourself from the constraints of these ideas, can be a powerful tool for personal growth. This approach aligns with certain gnostic concepts—it's a method you can use if it resonates with you.
While rituals like these may be helpful to some, what's important is that you release the burden of believing that you are inherently sinful and that a higher power is out to punish you. It's also crucial to understand that you should not feel guilty for God making His Son die so your innate sinfulness could be forgiven. Even if you don't think you believe that, unless you have intentionally renounced that belief, you carry it with you to some extent. Embracing this freedom is vital, especially for those who engage in magical practices.
Being Aware of Our Frame of Mind During Prayer and Ritual
You can gently release yourself from limiting belief systems without needing to rebel against the religion of your childhood; that path is only necessary if it deeply resonates. Often, simple reason and common sense are sufficient for detachment. Consider this: would a truly loving creator fashion you only to condemn you for perceived flaws or sins? Ponder this question, then let it dissolve. As you calm your racing thoughts through meditation, you will discover an unwavering presence of peace. In this profound tranquility resides what you might call a higher power, or God—an essence of pure peace that endures beneath the chaos of your surface thoughts and ego.
As you settle into this experience of peace, you begin a profound encounter with the divine. This meeting reveals God's actual perspective of you: one of boundless love and acceptance. There is nothing fundamentally wrong with you, and consequently, no basis for punishment. The notion of punishment arises from the ego, not from God. By spending a few moments in this deep connection, you will understand your true worth. You will come to realize that there is one thing you cannot do: alter your own perfection. You may try, you may even convince yourself you have, but you can never render yourself unlovable to the Infinite.
Any remnants of concepts of sin and punishment, when intertwined with magic, disrupt its effectiveness. When we approach magic from a place of feeling unworthy—thinking even subtly, "I'm not good enough, but perhaps an angel, deity, or entity will grant my request anyway"—we undermine our own creative power. It’s essential to remember that thought is creative. To overcome scarcity, one must detach from the belief in it and accept the abundance that is our birthright. We begin to see the evidence of abundance appearing in our lives, often very quickly.
Thought is the very foundation of creation. Before a book can be written, a building can be designed, or a business launched, it must first exist as an idea. Nothing materializes arbitrarily; a thought precedes every creation. This principle—that thought is creative—is the cornerstone of all legitimate magical practices. The beliefs we cultivate and the thoughts we entertain do not merely exist in our minds; they actively shape our reality and influence the outcomes of our rituals. Therefore, to move beyond a belief in scarcity, one must first embrace a perspective that welcomes and anticipates abundance.
So, if your dominant belief system when approaching magic is one of scarcity, you're likely to attract more of what you want to avoid. The assumption of scarcity stems from a belief in unworthiness and self-blame, often lurking in the background of our minds and becoming clear only when we pay attention. Therefore, when we engage in magic, we need to be aware of this perception before we start, so that we can change it.
Nature’s Lesson: Abundance Over Limitation
Many magic teachers often instill a belief in scarcity, advising us to ask only for what we truly need and nothing more. They caution that seeking beyond necessity may be seen as greedy or selfish. But does this perspective truly reflect the essence of the infinite? Upon closer reflection, you will come to realize the infinite’s intent for us is the same as its intent for all of nature—boundless, limitless abundance.
Take a meadow, brimming with flowers, seeds, and vibrant life, or a desert, with its vast expanse of sand. Nature’s generosity is limitless. Oceans stretch endlessly, air is available in abundance, and the earth teems with life—puppies born in litters, schools of fish filling the seas, and flocks of birds painting the skies. Yet, despite the boundless richness of nature, we are taught to believe in scarcity. We are conditioned to temper our aspirations, held back by the notion that desiring more is selfish. Even in a universe of infinite galaxies, we hesitate to voice our deepest desires, shackled by the fear of being greedy.
This calls for deeper reflection on our connection to the infinite and to nature itself. What is our relationship with the all-encompassing oneness? When we step beyond the confines of ego-driven thoughts and find inner stillness, we discover that nature’s abundance resides within us. In this space of peace, we come to see that there are no inherent limits—only the richness we are capable of embracing. Recognizing this relationship allows us to overcome scarcity and step into the infinite abundance that has always been ours.
Living in a three-dimensional world indeed imposes certain boundaries. Dimensions, by their nature, require limits. This idea gave rise to the concept of the demiurge—a kind of cosmic architect. However, the demiurge is not a sentient being ruling over reality but rather a mental construct, a projection of our collective beliefs onto the canvas of space and time.
Our thoughts hold immense creative power. The demiurge is a reflection of the limitations we collectively impose on ourselves in this three-dimensional existence. Yet, even within this realm of boundaries, the infinite has gifted us the ability to experience boundless abundance. By understanding this, we can reconcile the limitations of our physical world with the endless potential that lies within us, revealing a life of greater richness and possibility.
Why It’s Smart to Overcome Scarcity Thinking
As long as our beliefs remain unchallenged, regardless of how fervently we pray for mercy, the outcome will remain essentially unchanged because our thoughts are the creative agent. If we believe that we are not good enough or that we deserve to live in limitation—be it in love, health, finances, or resources—we will restrict ourselves in those areas.
Throughout history, many religious narratives have attempted to explain why humans tend to live lives of trouble. But few teach the real reason for our plight: the culprit is within us. Our belief systems shape our reality. If we approach life with a perspective of limitation, our magic and prayers will reinforce that limitation, because our thoughts create our experiences. Instead of praying, "Please help me escape this crisis," a more powerful prayer would be, "Please change my thoughts about this perceived crisis."
We need to free ourselves from the notion that we are inherently limited or worthy of punishment, or that a higher power somehow disfavors us. Until we liberate ourselves from the belief in scarcity, any ritual or prayer will reaffirm our sense of unworthiness and reinforce the cycle of limitation. We must learn to overcome scarcity in our minds, as our thoughts shape our experiences in tangible ways.
Our journey through the three-dimensional world needn't be a struggle. While this realm certainly has its limitations, nature itself demonstrates how infinite wisdom expresses boundless abundance even within these confines. By observing nature, we can shed the perception of limitation and fully embrace abundance. Nature flourishes without ever worrying that it is being greedy.
Breaking Free From Limiting Beliefs
As thinking beings, we possess the remarkable ability to shape our perceptions and, by extension, our realities. We are not destined to be bound by collective beliefs or restrictive narratives that surround us. However, liberation from these constraints begins with the awareness of our own conditioned thinking.
When your inner dialogue whispers thoughts of scarcity—suggesting you're unworthy of more or begrudging others their good—pause and challenge it. Recognize that as the thinker, you hold the power to choose a perspective rooted in abundance. Whenever you find yourself desiring something greater, examine the underlying attitude. Do your aspirations still carry a hint of scarcity? This self-awareness is the key to transformation. We truly heal by observing our thoughts and embracing abundance as our inherent right, thereby dissolving the scarcity we perceive in our lives.
Too often, we inadvertently use practices like magic or prayer not to break free, but to merely exchange one limitation for another. Instead of releasing restrictive thoughts to invite true abundance, we inadvertently reinforce the very scarcity we wish to escape. Before you cast a spell or say a prayer, remember that in a universe of infinite possibilities, genuine limitations cannot exist. What you ask for is merely the beginning of the blessings available to you.
Consider the simple miracle of an apple. Within it lie many seeds, most of which will never become trees. This fact, however, does not negate their potential. If we chose, we could cultivate each seed and grow an orchard of apple trees far beyond our needs. The potential for such abundance is always present.
Similarly, a single tomato contains numerous tiny seeds. One seed, seemingly insignificant, holds the blueprint for countless vines capable of feeding entire families. Nature is a constant demonstration of this principle: abundance is the default state, even in a world that can appear defined by its limits. The mere realization of this fact helps you overcome scarcity.
Shifting From Scarcity To Abundance
We often struggle to see ourselves as abundant because we’ve been conditioned not to. From the very beginning of our lives, we're taught that we are limited beings living in a restricted world with finite resources. We are discouraged from expressing our desires or aspirations. Although some may rebel by becoming greedy, greed is simply another manifestation of the scarcity we’re trying to overcome. We are rarely encouraged to confront the idea of scarcity itself. Instead, we learn to accept all forms of scarcity, believing they are necessary.
Even when we recognize that nature is abundant and see clear evidence of this everywhere around us, we still tend to rationalize ourselves as being limited and separate from the natural world. We mostly fail to realize the arrogance in that view. Nature is abundant, and since we are part of nature, we too are meant to experience abundance and have our desires fulfilled. It’s arrogant to think that while nature thrives, we are somehow barred from that abundance. True humility comes from understanding our interconnectedness with the natural world.
Magic for abundance, when rooted in scarcity beliefs, merely alters the manifestation of scarcity, rather than eradicating it. To genuinely overcome scarcity, we must fundamentally reorient our perspective. Magic stemming from a belief in scarcity can, at best, render scarcity less daunting and let us believe we have rendered it more manageable. Yet, it fails to cultivate an authentic experience of abundance. Recognizing the inherent flaws in this approach is crucial.
It's time to challenge the beliefs that keep you small. Thoughts like, “I only need just enough; more would be selfish,” or “My desires are vast, but fulfilling them means depriving others,” or even "Who am I to ask for anything?" are symptomatic of a belief system based on scarcity.
While you should be patient with yourself, be relentless in your commitment to shed these limiting narratives. Stop seeing yourself as small, undeserving, or not good enough. When you notice scarcity thinking creep in, make a conscious choice to renounce it and embrace the abundance you deserve.
Practice magic only with an attitude of abundance. For example, when casting a spell or praying about an upcoming bill, instead of saying, “This bill is paid on time,” try saying, “This bill is paid on time with money to spare!” This reinforces the presence of surplus in your life. Notice how it makes you feel that not only can you have this need met, but there is so much extra for you.
Embracing Abundance: Lessons from Nature
Nothing can defy the fundamental law of cause and effect. Thought is inherently causative, shaping the reality we experience. This is why believing in scarcity traps us within its illusion. However, by regularly connecting with our inner peace, we can see scarcity for what it truly is—an illusion we have the power to release. Letting go of a scarcity belief system allows true prosperity to manifest, regardless of external circumstances. To overcome scarcity, we must align with the understanding that abundance is not only possible—it is natural. Just as abundance flourishes effortlessly in nature, it will manifest in our lives when we embrace this truth.
I recently came across a YouTube video of a preacher who made an all-too-familiar claim: that enjoying earthly pleasures leads to eternal suffering. At the same time, enduring hardship guarantees a reward in the afterlife. This notion, though widespread, crumbles under scrutiny and contradicts the evidence we see in nature. By rejecting this belief, we can align ourselves with the flow of truth rather than remain mired in misery.
This is why spending time in nature is so essential. Places like national parks, untouched by human development, allow us to witness the world's natural opulence. Nature doesn’t concern itself with the afterlife or with arbitrary notions of worthiness. It simply offers abundance, freely and ceaselessly. Have you ever noticed how air is available to us in infinite supply? You can breathe as deeply as you wish, and the oxygen never runs out—it flows continuously, without condition.
Even in the face of human-made obstacles like pollution and destruction, nature’s abundance persists. Rather than resisting it, we can embrace nature as our teacher. Nature shows us that scarcity is unnatural, a man-made construct, while abundance is our rightful inheritance and purpose. To truly overcome scarcity, we must reconnect with the natural order. Just as every element of the natural world thrives in harmony, abundance in our lives is a sign of alignment with the natural flow. Scarcity, by contrast, is a state of disconnection, misaligned with the laws of nature.
By observing and learning from nature’s unyielding abundance, we can break free from the illusion of scarcity and step into the flow of prosperity that is already ours.
Cultivating Abundance: A Call to Mindfulness and Responsibility
Anyone claiming that current poverty guarantees future abundance overlooks a fundamental truth: thought is creative and accompanies you, no matter what reality you inhabit. Individuals who have undergone near-death experiences often describe freedom from physical constraints as the sole significant alteration; however, the mind persists with its established thought patterns. The notion that present hardship ensures a better afterlife falters under deeper metaphysical scrutiny. Thought remains the creative power. Even without a three-dimensional body, another type of body endures. We will experience various kinds of bodies throughout eternity, and our thoughts will continue to shape our realities forever.
Let's focus on our present reality. The notion that we can postpone our abundance to a future existence is not merely complacent, but profoundly irresponsible – a form of spiritual procrastination. We are called to embrace our responsibilities and actively cultivate abundance in our lives right now. Where does this abundance reside? It lies within us. To unearth it, we must regularly quiet the clamor of our surface thoughts, fostering a state of inner peace at least once each day.
By calming our thoughts and focusing on the qualities of the infinite, even for a short time each day, we can overcome scarcity, along with fear and doubt, regardless of the challenges we face or the goals we set. This practice fosters confidence and certainty about our situation. Through faith, imagination, will, and secrecy, we can turn our desires into reality. When applying the principles of manifestation described in A Witch's Primer, we must focus on creating abundance rather than limiting ourselves by pernicious beliefs in scarcity.
Remind yourself often of how nature easily offers abundance—blooming flowers, vast oceans, and vibrant leaves. You are part of Nature’s bounty and can therefore solve your problems and reach your goals easily and with plenty to spare. We need to look past the appearance of scarcity in our lives and understand that nature knows how to provide solutions to our challenges and much more.
Settling for 'just enough' falls far short of your true inheritance; you deserve abundant prosperity in every facet of your life. Should abundance seem out of reach, it is not because the infinite is withholding or testing you. On the contrary, the infinite actively seeks to uplift you. It is vital to understand that any limiting belief you hold can be consciously shed. Claim the natural abundance that is your inherent birthright.
Embracing Our Birthright: Stepping into Abundance and Letting Go of Scarcity
Abundance is our inherent birthright, not a privilege granted to a select few, nor a reward for specific rituals or saintly living. Instead, it is fundamental to our very essence. Like all elements of the natural world, we are intrinsically designed to embody abundance. We must embrace this inherent state, irrespective of the challenges we encounter in the world. As children of the infinite and of nature, our essential nature transcends all that our senses can perceive.
Through our thoughts and words, we can access abundance, but we can also block it. When we approach magic with an attitude of “enough to get by,” we reinforce our limitations. It is essential to challenge this way of thinking within ourselves. We must stand firm against scarcity and the belief that we do not deserve good things or that we are not good enough. By confronting these beliefs, we can learn to overcome scarcity and attract more abundance into our lives. This transformation also encourages us to move away from unhealthy thoughts and behaviors.
Integrating the phrase "this or something even better" into our prayers and intentions offers a simple yet profoundly transformative practice. It powerfully reorients our perspective from a belief in scarcity to an expansive embrace of abundant possibilities. This shift allows us to welcome blessings we may not have even contemplated, potentially exceeding our initial desires.
It is crucial to recognize that we were not created as sinners or unworthy individuals; these are beliefs the group mind has adopted. We have the freedom and right to disavow any belief system we choose. Let our motivation be the desire to embody abundance, as that is our true nature.
Thank you for your time today. I truly appreciate you. Until next time, blessed be.
