In Psalm 110, there is a famous line: "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." This verse, even though it's in the Bible, depicts Magical Law. You don't have to like the Bible or the Psalms to understand this universal principle.

The idea of the fear of the Lord has been misunderstood. The fear of the Lord is not the same as being afraid of God. It represents having respect, a sense of awe, and even ecstasy about the way things work.

In this particular case, the Lord can be understood by magicians as the magical law. There is one magical law out of which all other magical laws are born. The primary magical law is the law of cause and effect.

Respecting Magical Law

As magicians, we can interpret "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" to mean that respecting the law is the beginning of magical success. In this sense, wisdom and magical success are synonymous. Our success is based on our wisdom, and our wisdom is linked to how well we understand the law.

Most people first turn to magic to solve a problem—perhaps a financial, relationship, or health issue. They come looking for a quick fix, like a magic formula or potion, because they don't know what else to do.

Often, they are disappointed. They might fall for a charlatan who promises an easy answer, or they might meet a real practitioner who explains that magic doesn't work that way. To achieve the results they want, they must first build their skills.

One of the biggest misconceptions about magic is that it’s just a Craft. Similar to any other skill, success comes from consistent practice, just like in fitness, art, or music. Daily practice is essential for mastering magic.

The good news is that it’s not too hard to become skilled enough to meet your needs. However, the method is very different from how most people solve problems. This is where the idea that "fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" becomes relevant.

Changing Reality

Most people don’t realize that there is a magical law guiding their lives and that they are already practicing magicians. Because they are unaware of the law of cause and effect, they don’t understand that the causes are internal (in their minds) and the effects are their circumstances. They’ve been practicing magic all along, but in a way that gives them what they don’t want. Understanding magical law helps you become a conscious creator of your reality.

This is why it doesn’t take much practice to become good at magic—because everyone has already been practicing it. The key is to learn what they’ve been doing, understand how to undo the negative effects, and create new causes to achieve new effects.

How we perceive and think about a situation is the root of everything. When we face something we don't like, we can tell ourselves, "This isn't what it seems, and I have the power to change it." This shift in perception is the first step toward actual change. Once we adopt this approach, it often isn't long before we start to see different results.

For example, let’s say someone is looking for work and wants a job spell. They’ve been trying to get hired in their field but haven’t succeeded. They come to magic for help. A good job spell will help them to create a thought form that undoes their current reality and replaces it with a new one: a new job.

Living in the New Reality

After you plant a seed, you have to wait for it to grow. The same is true for magical work. Many people undo their spells because they don't see immediate results. They start to worry, and this worry feeds the old reality, preventing the new one from taking shape.

When you have two competing thoughts about the same issue, the stronger one will win. This is why it's important to respect the universal law: whatever you give your attention, focus, and emotion to, you strengthen.

After you cast a spell, old worries might come up. It's crucial to recognize these thoughts as old energy leaving and not give them any power. Instead, refocus your mind.

Some teachers suggest acting as if your desire has already come true. I recommend a different approach: forget about the spell completely and let it do its job. If negative thoughts appear, simply tell yourself, "I've already cast a spell; everything is fine," and then shift your focus to something else.

When manifesting, aim for feelings of peace and relaxation instead of intense excitement. If you want to attract money, focus on the peace of financial security, not the thrill of a windfall. If you're looking for a relationship, concentrate on a calm certainty that your partner is on the way to you.

Excitement can signal to your subconscious that the situation is unusual, which might create resistance. Instead, focus on feeling balanced and peaceful. Some people worry that they can't visualize vividly. You don't need a perfectly vivid, movie-like visualization; a general idea of what you want, combined with a sense of peace, is enough for a very powerful spell.

The Role of Faith and Will

In magic, willpower isn't about forcing an outcome. It's about willing your mind to be calm and focused. When a fear arises, acknowledge it and gently guide your thoughts back to a state of peace, reminding yourself that everything is okay.

The ability to relax and stay in the right attitude is a powerful tool. It helps you release your fears and trust the magical process. This is the best use of your magical will.

Faith in your magic is essential. When you flip a light switch, you trust the light will turn on. You need that same confidence in your spells. When you cast a spell for something, you mustn't worry about it. Certainty is a magical attitude; worry is not.

Start by working on things within your Sphere of Influence. Each successful spell builds your faith and confidence. You already know how to use your imagination—you've likely spent a lot of time imagining things you don't want. Now, it's time to use that same powerful skill to focus on what you do want.

The Importance of Secrecy and Simplicity

To practice magic effectively, keep your intentions private. Think of it like this: talking about a spell before it works scatters its energy, just as light ruins undeveloped film. Let your magic unfold through experience, not through words.

Once your goal is achieved, it will be obvious to everyone. Until then, keep it secret.

The principles of magic are straightforward, though some try to make them seem complicated. A good teacher simplifies them. The process is direct: relax, focus on your desired outcome, trust in its manifestation, and maintain your silence. Allow it to unfold naturally.

A good magician is calm and confident, getting things done without a big show. This understated approach is why their magic works.

Conclusion: The Power of Magical Law

Magical law is always at work, whether or not we realize it. By understanding and respecting magical law, you can transform your experiences and manifest your true desires.
