Infinite Intelligence: The Source of All That Is

Starry night sky with glowing star at center, surrounded by wispy clouds, and silhouetted trees below. Deep blues evoke tranquility.

When we were first introduced to God, we were given children’s illustrations of the divine. God was explained to you as a powerful man in the sky. You may have pictured a father with a long white beard counting your sins from his cloud perch. Or if your childhood depiction was gentler, you may have placed God inside the earth as a divine Mother nurturing us from within.

None of these pictures is bad. When we are young, we need something concrete to grasp. Yet as we grow up, these containers become too small. If God is a man up in the sky, then God is out there, and I am here. In other words, we learn that we are disconnected from our source.

Once you discover that the God behind everything is not a separate being with a brain like yours or mine, but Infinite Intelligence itself, you begin to realize this Intelligence created the baby inside the womb out of a single embryo. It is the Architect behind millions of galaxies and planetary systems orbiting a central sun, held so tightly by gravity that not one could drift away. It is the silent green magic of photosynthesis, turning sunlight into oxygen we breathe.

When you remove the person from your creator, you see God for what it really is: Infinite Intelligence. This is when everything in your life shifts. You no longer need to search for a God to rescue you, because you see that the Divine Intelligence already lives within and as you.

Infinite Intelligence as a Master Engineer

Picture the smartest engineer you can. If they were perfect at their job, would they create a machine with unnecessary parts? Would they craft an engine without a piston? No, they would not. The perfect engineer’s work is flawlessly efficient. Infinite Intelligence is a perfect engineer.

Infinite Intelligence made no errors when it created existence. It didn’t create the universe with anything missing. And it didn’t create it with anything left over. When you realize this, you come to understand yourself.

You are made from this Intelligence. You are not an accident. Since you were created by perfection itself, you have nothing missing from you. There are no “extra” parts about you. There is nothing “wasted” about you. You may feel as though you’re missing things. Confidence. Money. Love. Direction. But that is an illusion.

Your True Will is a piece of that greater Will. It has a purpose. Your True Will knows where it needs to be. And it knows how to get there and what it needs to do along the way. It is incredibly intelligent. Most of the time, when we feel inadequate, lost, or dumb, it is because we’ve disconnected from the knowledge of who we are. We’ve forgotten that what makes the stars orbit is the same Intelligence pumping blood through our veins.

Moving Beyond the "Person" in the Sky

Leaving behind childish ideas of God as a "daddy God" or "mommy Goddess" can be disorienting. It’s nice to imagine that someone up there has your back. When you remove that crutch, some folks go to the opposite extreme. They say, “Okay, if there’s no guy up in the sky, then there must not be a God.” They believe that this universe is made up of only cold, dead, unfeeling forces of attraction. Magnetism. Lightning.

God, infinite Intelligence, is not some random lightning bolt. It is personal. It has a very specific purpose and idea about who you are. It is having an intimate relationship with you right now because it exists in and through you. There is no place where you stop, and God begins. There is no fence that separates divinity from you.

You are an extension of God, just like a sunbeam is an extension of the sun. Just like the sunbeam cannot exist without the sun, your divine light shines through you as you.

The Ego's War on Connection

The ego bases its identity on separation. “I am not that.” “I am me and you are you.” “I am better than him.” “I am worse than her.” “I am alone.”

Our ego does everything in its power to prevent us from knowing we’re connected to Infinite Intelligence. If we knew we were supported by the genius of the universe working on our behalf our ego would be out of a job as our protector, our boss, our motivator.

We have two primary motivations. You can think of them as voices. We’re not talking about voices you can audibly hear, necessarily. We’re talking about a spiritual voice that speaks to you of connection and oneness and an ego voice that yells at you about separation and defending who you “are.”

It will feel like these two voices are battling each other constantly. But the only one fighting is your ego.Infinite Intelligence is like doesn’t fight because it has no understanding of opposition. It has no ego. It doesn’t see you as having an ego either. It simply sees extensions of itself.

That Intelligence knows when its beloved creations get into trouble. It knows when you have fallen asleep to you are. And because that Intelligence is the source of all supply, it can orchestrate any resource you need at any moment in time, any place in space, to bring you back to happiness.

Seeing the Genius in Others

One of the fastest ways I’ve learned to apply this teaching is by shifting the way that I perceive other people.

We meet many people in our lives who are difficult to be around. They might be acting mean, they might be ignorant, or they might just be plain frustrating. Your ego wants to interact with them on that level. It wants to argue, attack, defend itself, and prove them wrong and itself right.

That just creates more ego. Two forces coming together to push against each other and solidify the illusion of separation even further. So flip the script. Look at that person and remember that Infinite Intelligence is expressing itself as them too. Even if they deny it. Even if they are actively fighting against that truth. You don’t have to subscribe to their illusion. You can hold the truth for them.

The beauty of this type of magic is that it requires no candles, incense, or rituals. All you have to do is sit down, clear your mind, and remember that the Infinite is flowing through that bully or difficult person the exact same way that it is flowing through you. When you do this, you’re transcending the battle.

Infinite Intelligence cannot be rude, mean, or disrespectful. Those are traits of the ego. There is no evil in Infinite Intelligence, and therefore there is no evil in anyone else’s core essence either.

When we witness acts that seem “evil” or “cruel”, what we are really watching is a nightmare. We are watching people who have forgotten their connection to the Infinite act out of fear and delusion. They are being insane--with the belief that they are separate from everything and everyone else.

This doesn’t mean that we are to allow people to treat us poorly. We sometimes must take action in the world by blocking them, calling the police, cutting off all communication, or simply walking away. But we do it without hatred in our hearts. We do it knowing that although their personality is sick, their soul is perfectly whole.

The Magic of Projection

The world is built on projection. “As you believe, so shall be given to you,” say the oldest texts. The Psalms teach us that God gives to us according to how we expect God to appear.

If you believe God is a cosmic judge itching to punish you, you will see reasons to see judgment everywhere. If you believe God is an uncaring void who left you alone on this rock floating in space, you will feel abandoned. We always cast what is deep inside our minds onto the screen of space.

We are all mages. We are projecting all the time. Most people are doing it unconsciously and habitually. Our egos spew out fear, lack, separation, and erroneous narratives and then look around at the chaotic screen and say “look at this evil world.”

When someone projects their anger onto us, we usually respond defensively. Our reaction is influenced by our own fears of separation. We may think that this cycle of reactive behavior is what life is all about, but it’s not. It’s simply a bad movie that we are all experiencing to together. Awakening happens when we stop allowing the ego to control the projector.

We can learn to invite the Infinite to express itself through us. We can seek the perspective that aligns with how the Infinite perceives the world, rather than being swayed by our distorted ego, rooted in past hurts and the pain we carry. This process is what enlightenment truly means. We stop reacting to our own and others' illusory projections and begin to create from a place of truth.

Healing Problems Through Infinite Intelligence

But what about when you’re broke? When your marriage is falling apart? When you get a scary diagnosis?

Typically, our ego wants to “fix” whatever problem we’re dealing with. We panic. We worry. We try to control our environment so that the pain will go away. Sometimes this can help in the short-term, but most of the time it's akin to rearranging the chairs on the Titanic.

Remember, whatever problem you’re dealing with is not part of Infinite Intelligence’s plan for your life. It’s not “God’s will” that you experience financial struggles, sickness, arguments, etc. The universe desires only happiness for you.

When you experience an issue in your life, try thinking of it as a reminder to reconnect back with Infinite Intelligence. Remember every problem is a symptom of a belief in separation from the Infinite.

The best action you can take is no physical action at all, though it may lead to one. First you have to get yourself back in alignment.

Stop: Recognize that your ego does not have the answers. If it did, you wouldn’t be dealing with this problem in the first place.

Align: Shift your focus and attention back to Infinite Intelligence. Remind yourself that you are connected to the Creator of all that exists.

Ask: Ask Infinite Intelligence to guide you and show you the next step.

When you do this you may instantly get an “Ah-ha!” moment. Maybe you’ll realize that you need to stop spending money on XYZ. Maybe you’ll feel inspired to pick up the phone and dial a friend. Or maybe the answer is to take no action at all and allow it to fix itself.

You’ll know when you receive the answer because you will feel a sense of peace. You will stop worrying about your problem and know that all is well.

Developing the Magical Practice

This isn’t a one time exercise. It’s a practice. Mastering this form of magic takes repetition. It requires us to remember how to turn away from the ego’s panicked reactions and rest back into the presence of the Infinite that exists deep within us.

Instead of doing anything, take five minutes, close your eyes, and repeat the phrase “Infinite Intelligence” in your mind. While you say the words, ponder their meaning. Allow yourself to relax your body completely. Consider the vast, perfect, and loving power holding the entire universe together. Know that this power is willing and able to help you right now.

You’ll have no shortage of opportunities to do this. Every day you will encounter problems that leave your ego totally upset. When those opportunities come, and they will come, remember that each annoyance, each bill, and awkward conversation is an opportunity to pause and remember the presence of Infinite Intelligence.

Infinite Intelligence doesn’t keep score. When you mess up and make a mistake, you’re not judged. You simply have another opportunity to remember again, and then again.

Our souls know how to live as extensions of brilliance instead of reactions to life. We are remembering that we are not little egos trying to conquer the world. We are beloved manifestations of the Infinite who knows us and our needs intimately.

The more we ground ourselves in this truth, the more our lives work out in wonderful ways. This is not only because the problems get solved, but because we remember who we truly are.

Thank you for reading with me!

Blessed be.
